I had revised surgery at Thomas Jefferson Hospital on my femur and knee. I chose The Watermark at Logan Square to do my rehabilitation based upon its rating and photos posted on their website. I was shocked by the lack of professionalism and preparation by this facility. After I was transported it took an hour before someone came to my room to help me with the transition. I had to call the main desk to get someone’s attention. Arrangements were made well in advance, yet they did not have my medications nor were they prepared to provide the much needed intravenous antibiotic I needed. I was told that they were still on the phone getting my meds which included my pain medication as well as my antibiotics. I arrived at The Watermark at around 6pm. They had all day to prepare for my arrival. When I pressed the director about when I would get my antibiotics he said that it would be taken care of tomorrow. With that response I became very frustrated and refused to stay a minute longer in this dark, dingy room with mouse glue traps in the corners. I was unable to film the mouse that scurried across the room. It is nothing like the photos posted on their website. I would NOT recommend this facility as an acceptable place for rehabilitation.

Shut this place down immediately! I wouldn’t send my enemy to this dump. Staff are ignorant and careless. The whole building should be knocked down. They treated my father terrible and left him in filth. The place looks nice at first but believe me it’s below basic as far as cleanliness goes. The smell will knock you down before you get upstairs. I regret sending my father to this horror house . The Health Department should check this place out at once!!!

Be YOU! Want your houseplant garden in the hallway? A plaque or sign outside your front door? I have both. Management and visitors alike welcome them. You don’t have to shop, plan, cook or cleanup for anyone – hardly even for yourself. Thrive in all you can do with the time and energy those duties used to take. And enjoy all the varied and delicious food you want.Be part of an intelligent, cultured and warm community at Watermark and at the same time be different – if you want to be.Feel safe – you are.Go on free trips near and far, for the arts and intellect, parks and beaches, exercise and fun, restaurants and more.Medical care is a click away. Both our executive director and primary doctor are responsive, thorough and lovable (emailing a comment or criticism to Director Jennifer Tapner usually brings a cogent response almost before you think she has read your message).Giant windows to the outside on all sides afford views of the ever-evolving cityscape and always changing sky.

After a fall I was taken to Jefferson Hospital. I temporarily lost my memory. The hospital was able to contact my daughter in Australia and she came to Philadelphia and found Watermark for me.I was first taken to the 8th floor in their Assisted living portion of the building but after a number of years there I was upgraded to Independent Living and that is where I now live on the 17th floor with a great view of the Logan Square [a circle with a fountain in the center]There are a lot of activities available for the residents, somewhat less during the Pandemic. And the food is great, the only menu item I dont like is the skate, fortunately we dont get that too often.I love it here and I will stay for the rest of my life, probably going back to Assisted living, the final stop for us all.But I have the experience, lived there before!

Watermark is a great place to work at, at least for me. I missed the time when I was working with the dining people. My boss was a great person. She had been very supportive to us. The foods there were always high quality and consistent.

My Mom has lived in independent living at the Watermark for six years. I think the WM is a great place for those in independent living. The apartments are beautiful (although maintenance when needed is often hard to come by) and the staff for the most part are great. If you/your loved one are able to take advantage of the activities offered, it is great. However, if your loved one needs a higher level of care this may not be the best place. My Mom has been able to stay independent living because we privately hire staff to support her. Assisted living is not nearly as well staffed as it needs to be (for what people are paying they should be offered more than minimum licensing requirements) and skilled nursing is even worse. Jennifer Tapner the executive director is extremely responsive in almost all situations. The constant increases in rent are ridiculous.

My care at The Watermark for rehabilitation after my surgery was a welcomed experience. When I arrived I was greeted by Director of Nursing Kathy Aleszczyk with a caring attitude that I needed being in pain and a lil nervous. She was so sweet she made sure I was given dinner and let me know where her office was if I needed anything. The staff introduced themselves as they came in the room. The next day I met the Administrator Mr. David Attwood who took the time to listen to my concerns as my surgical wound was painful. David and Kathy made sure my stay was comfortable. David was kind enough to stop what he was doing each time I had a question or concern. I wish I could name all the nurses and assisting nurses that made sure I received water, juice and crakers. One of them was Donna Rae if Im not mistaken and the Nurse who helped me in distress one afternoon when Transport brought me back. She helped me get cleaned up and out of a wheelchair after an embaressing accident. She (I think her name is Annette) let me cry it out while she calmed me down with kindness and understanding. I could go on and on about my treatment with the PT staff Dean very patient and the OT lady, giving me something warm to ware for a Transport one morning she was awesome helping me in the mornings. I must mention the Socialwork lady who went the extra mile making sure my stay was without worry. Bottom line I would recommed The Watermark at Logan Square to patients in need of care to be treated here and wish them all the best! ☺😁

In March 2020, my mother was hospitalized for complications with Congestive Heart Failure and weakness in her left leg. She was sent to Watermark for rehab to gain her strength back before returning home. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to visit her. We were only able to speak with her on the phone. Most of the time, the phone in her room would just ring without any answer. Though we asked them multiple times to make sure the phone was within her reach, they rarely did. Lots of times, they wouldnt even answer the phone at the front desk. Great day at the Watermark. What a joke. We would have weekly conference calls with her Social Worker, Pascale (who is the least social Social Worker Ive ever met), her Physical and Occupational Therapists and her Dietician. The PT told us that even though she needs assistance from 2 people to walk at the moment, they would eventually get her back to walking on her own with her quad cane. My mother, however, told us that they lost her clothes, sneakers and leg brace that she ABSOLUTELY needs to walk. So they lied to us about her walking and progress. While at Watermark, due to neglect, her health deteriorated. She was hospitalized SIX times while at the Watermark. One time my Dad called her and during their conversation he asked how they were treating her there. She replied A little rough. When my Dad asked what she meant, she said Someone is feeding me lunch right now. She didnt want to go into detail while they were in the room. Due to them not brushing, one of her teeth rotted in her mouth. They didnt wash her hair or bathe her. When she finally returned home in July, it was on Hospice/End of Life services. She was actively dying from kidney failure. Shed NEVER had Kidney issues before entering Watermark. Her fingernails and toenails had fungus in them. Her hair was so dirty and smelly. When I finally washed it, it began to fall out in huge clumps. She had 3 Stage 2 Bed/Pressure scores. My Mom returned home on a Thursday and died on Sunday. Please, please, if you value yours or your loved ones life, avoid Watermark. Our family still cant get over the shock of having a capable family member go in and having a corpse returned to us.

I haave lived at The Watermark for eight years. My moving in was . basedon the fact that there were 7 museums in walking distance At the ageof 95 I can no longer walk to these museums; instead I can take theWatermark loop bus (FREE!) The Watermark has lived up to myexpectations in many ways - my spacious apartment, good food, interesting activities and a great variety of people, not to mentionavailable health service 24 hours a day. I heartily recommend it.

I cant understand the negative reviews for the Watermark at Logan Square. I have been a independent living resident for more than 4 years and consider my decision to move to the Watermark one of the best decisions I have ever made. There is a saying you can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink. The food is a cut above what one would expect from a retirement facility. The activities are remarkable with concerts, lectures and programs that range from Bridge to knitting, piano lessons, fitness center etc. This is a very special place because a lot of the people who come to the Watermark come specifically for its location. There are 3 museums in the immediate area along with the Free Library of Philadelphia next door. The worst that could be said about the Watermark is the slow elevators…Yes they are slow but if thats the worst you can say about the community, then it must be one heck of a place. There are people who come to the Watermark and hide in their rooms. They would be unhappy anywhere. For the majority of the residents, this is a wonderful place to live. The population of the Watermark includes rocket scientists, retired physicians, college professors, authors, sex therapists, psychologists and a lot of other interesting individuals.Staff turnover is a problem for all facilities such as the Watermark. However, we do have staff that has been here for many years.
