We got our newest family member here named him Noa. We had him checked by a vet the same day and he was all cleared . We found one ingrown nail and took him to Toms they fixed it for us really appreciated it! So happy to have him thanks for everything. See you when we need more food! Luna our lab loves him as well
My son and I came into the store needing some supplies for a fish he won at the fair. We didnt have a clue as to what we were looking for or what we needed. Joey totally set us up. Took the time to explain what everything was, and made sure we stayed within our budget.Great guy, great store.
I had just agreed to take 4 week old kitten that was apparently thrown away and rescued by a very goodSamaritan. After I got the little kitten, I went over to Tom’s not realizing they were closing and literallywalking out the door. The two gentlemen who were just locking the door and invited me in and helpedme get the items I needed to get this very young and very small kitten healthy and happy. I can’t say enough about how much I appreciated these two wonderful guys. My kitten is recovering greatly and I am sure she will continue to grow and become a great companion and friend.Thank Yoy Tom’s Pet OutletRoger Pryor
The whole staff is very rude, most of them dont look at you when you walk through the door. Ive been looking for another dog for a while and I walked over to one of the puppies windows and I waited patiently for the worker to to finish talking, and when she did she didnt even acknowledge me.With that being said, they overprice the puppies. The one dog was 3300 dollars and it wasnt even a purebred dog.
Very caring and knowledgeable staff. Staff actually listens to you and go above and beyond to get what you need. I have NOT one bad thing to say about Toms. Such a great pet store to shop at. Such a happy atmosphere, good energy. They actually deserve 10 ⭐s. The staff actually asks me to bring in my snakes because they are interested in what my pets need and to make sure I get the proper care for their needs. Best pet shop there is, period!
Absolutely wonderful! Bought my puppy here and she is absolutely perfect! Completely healthy, not one issue whatsoever. The vet was even surprised that she didn’t even have any type of worm or parasite in her stool as she said every puppy always has that. The staff is amazing. You can see how much they care about the pets and they are a wealth of information. I learned a lot from them! I’m grateful for everyone who works there who helped teach me how to take care of a puppy! I highly recommend!
From the moment I called about a kitten until the moment we picked our new family member up, we had nothing but amazing customer service. Our rescued baby Luna has been a blessing to our family & she has been purring since she got home. Thank you Toms & all of the girls there that helped make it happen.
Great place. A little pricey, but great selection and the friendless staff. A handful of puppies always available to play with. Kittens present occasionally. Reptiles, fish and rodents available. Homemade dog treats offered at counter. Always a very pleasant visit. Loyalty program available.
Good selection. Kinda pricey and kinda pushy. I wouldnt go here for another dog, but the fuzzy friend I adopted from here is now the queen of my home and i have to thank toms for that.If they lowered prices by a little bit and was a bit less pushy with the amount of things needed to adopt a dog I would give 5 stars easily. The staff was super nice, no criticism at all on that part.
Very nice staff and they have some amazing animals. I got my dog there 2 years ago. They have a small selection of dogs so you know they have been cared for and they get them right from breeders. Would tell anyone looking for a dog to consider Toms, you wont regret it.
Reviews are everything because we read some pretty scary reviews from other pet stores in the area. We got our Shih Tzu Benji at Toms and although we were a little skeptical by the name, we are so happy we went to Toms! The staff was great, everyone was very helpful. We worked with Joey and he was awesome. Wasn’t pushy at all, and answered all of our questions since this is our first dog. We took Benji to the vet a few days after we got him, and with the exception of a mini Ear Infection, he is perfectly healthy! We are so happy with our little nugget. We definitely recommend Toms Pet Outlet!
Love this place. I come mostly for parrot food and treats because they carry various brands and quantities at good prices. They always have a nice supply of fun toys too. Usually Ill pick up a few treats for my dogs and cat and sometimes a toy. I enjoy visiting the puppies, birds, and watching fish. Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They never make me feel pressured if Im just meandering through the store.
The 1st thing I noticed in this pet store was how clean it was, especially for one that sells puppies. We actually ended up buying our new pet from this shop after getting recommended by friends.I also like the store kept its promise to reimburse vet bills if the dog had any unexpected issues. It turned out it had some type of worm and we are getting money back for the antibiotics he is on.Besides that, I found the staff very pleasant. It felt they liked their job!
I went in today to look at a Shih Tzu puppy. I had been trying to adopt for sometime but the application process time is very long, and by the time they got to my application the puppy was already adopted. So I did some research and found Tom’s. Called ahead as their website said and headed up. I live in NJ so I wanted to make sure the puppy was still there. The store is super clean, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Needless to say I took one look at the Shih Tzu and it was love at first sight! Also, you can tell they love and take care of their puppies because the Shih Tzu I purchased was a runt and 2.5 pounds. They told me I had to come back on Monday to pick him up as they wanted him to gain a little more weight. I have been to some places who just don’t care, but they do. Prices are well within what was expected and I cannot wait to go back and pick my bundle of joy up on Monday to bring to his new home!!
The staff are quite helpful, and are never rude. I find myself going there once in a while. I enjoy the interaction with the puppies. Ive found myself interested in their rodents and reptiles quite a few times, but think everything in there is a bit too expensive. I also dont like the fact the puppies are not A.K.C. but are still SO expensive. I have bought a dog from this facility, and will be going back! Thank you for the wonderful service :D(Update - Ive just adopted another puppy from them. 12/3/17)
We bought a fish from here last week as well as a fish and crab from there today. Both are doing well. While I can NEVER promote the breeding and sale of puppies for profit while there are so many dogs being euthanized at shelters, their facility is very nice in terms of cleanliness and they seem to take very good care of their animals. My only recommendation would be to stop getting puppies from breeders and start selling rescue puppies instead, but I understand different stores have different business models. Owner is very knowledgeable and helpful, definitely recommend.
Went there looking to buy a pet . They didnt have any at the moment and the ones they did everything was blocked off. One of the workers said we could only see anything if we were actually going to buy an animal. We told her what we wanted to see and kept waiting for her to let us know if we could go back and look at the animals which we never were able to. Highly disappointed and feel very disrespected. Would never recommend this buisness. Id rather go to a petsmart or shelter .
I absolutely love this place! Laura, Heather and Melissa ALWAYS take time to answer any questions I or my children have. They are so helpful and kind every single time I’m there. I drove past multiple pet stores due to the fact that those women make EVERY shopping experience fun. I’ll never shop anywhere else!
The staff here are very knowledgeable, their ability to assist with 98% of pets is pretty amazing. This is a small single store, so they can chose staff with knowledge, and not just some kid looking for a second job. The animals all seem healthy and happy and you can tell that the staff love what they do.
DO NOT BUY PETS FROM HERE!!! Me and my roommate each bought a kitten we were told were rescues which we now question, and the price was pretty hefty $300. We thought it was a good deal it came with the first out of three shots they were supposed to get which we thought was nice and we bought them. When we took them for their first vet check up, at a real veterinarian, we were told the first shot given to them from Toms Pet outlet was given to them too young, making it ineffective. We were a bit angry and had to pay more vet bills than we originally thought. It just sucks paying for it twice pretty much. All their dogs are CLEARLY from puppy mills and we love our little kittens so much but had we read reviews about Toms Pet Outlet prior to going, we never wouldve went there to purchase animals. I spoke to the owner on the phone and he was very rude telling me he didnt know what our vets deal was and told me they couldnt reimburse us or give us any money back even though we paid them for ineffective shots. Do your research when buying pets and do not buy from Toms pet outlet.
I recently adopted a Rex from Toms Pet Outlet. When we bought him, it appeared that he had a little irritation in his eye probably from a piece of hay pocking him but we loved him enough to take him anyways thinking that it would clear up in a few days. When it didnt, we took him to the vet. Even though this was not Toms responsibility, he offered to take care of it all and he even recommended the Vet which was EXCELLENT. To my family that shows his integrity as an owner, expecially because we are in the middle of an economic crisis with COVID. MY FAMILY WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYWHERE ELSE, TOMS PET OUTLET IS OUR GO TO NOW!
Ordered two dog harnesses on June 16th, received one harness two weeks later, no note as to why I was only getting a partial order, waited a week in case they were just shipped separately still no harness. I emailed them to find out what happened to my order several times and never got a response. After the five weeks I’ve been waiting for a response I can only assume they never intend to fill my order but will keep the money. AVOID THESE GUYS!!!
Everyone there was nice and attentive.I especially liked Joey, not only because my son has the same name, but it didnt hurt, lol. They take great care of their puppies. I was there 5 out of 7 days in one week to see my puppy because she couldnt come home until she was a little bigger. My puppy was always clean and happy, until I had to put her back to go home, lol. We brought her home on Monday and she started going on her puppy pad and outside right away. The staff made sure we got the same food she has been eating and helped me find just the right harness for her. I had bought Brandy a small collar and harness, but since shes a German shepard she skipped right to medium at 2 months. So take my advice and let them find not only the right family member for you, but the correct sizes collar, leashes and the right food! They were fantastic. 💯
We just recently purchased a brindle old bulldog/boston mix from Toms Pet Outlet. The store is clean and the staff is knowledgeable. When I asked where the puppy came from the owner freely gave us the location and name of the breeder. They clearly have nothing to hide. As for our puppy...he is doing great and has been the perfect addition to our family.
My husband and I bought a beautiful beagle pup from Tom’s in September 2017. She was perfectly healthy and then she became so sick the hospital described it as life threatening but had no idea what it was. Watching her in this state was heartbreaking and it felt like we were torturing her at that point so we stopped testing. She passed at 9 months old. I sent Toms a letter not asking for anything but to make them aware and hope that they could do whatever possible to make sure this didn’t happen to other customers. When they didn’t respond I dropped off an angrier letter two weeks later stating I’d be reviewing them on Facebook and google. I immediately received a call/voicemail stating the owners business partner had been sick and needed surgery. While I was completely sympathetic towards him, I felt it was an excuse for ignoring us and to maybe make us feel bad enough to drop it. When I called him back I was disgusted. He must have said a million times that he was overwhelmed because of his business partner’s condition but then said he wasn’t using it as an excuse. He said he received my letter last week. He couldn’t even familiarize himself enough with our situation that he stated was “ very serious and needed to be attended too”. He didn’t even know that our puppy was a girl. We said her name multiple times in both letters and on the phone with him and he repeatedly used the word “ it “ to describe her. When asked which breeder he got her from he said “ it was a beagle?” He didn’t even know what breed or sex the dog he was talking about was. The tone in his voice was very unsympathetic and felt like he wanted to just get me off the phone. I’m completely disgusted with Tom’s. They gave me a name of the breeder they got her from with no contact information. I wish I would have read the reviews before I went there.
THESE DOGS ARE ALL FROM AMISH PUPPY MILLS. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. If you are looking for a specific breed of dog, reply to this comment and I would be happy to guide you in the direction of a reputable breeder. Looking forward to to the day where this place- along with all other pet stores- are outlawed and shut down.
Yay! I found this place! This is the place where I purchased my bunny, Thumper from. He is a mini lop and he is doing great (although hes a little bit crazy). We are thinking of purchasing a new bunny cage here also! Customer service was awesome! Keep up the good work!!!
I called this place looked it up by NAME and AREA called the store to confirm if they had what i needed (waxworms) i was told they had it DROVE 20MINS to get for they to say they dont have them i asked if the number i had called was this location and they confirmed that it was...so no ive driven 20mins for something i could have been told over the phone...poor service at its best...i wish i didnt have to give a star to even write this post becaue for something like that they dont even deserve a single star
Was looking for a puppy as my dog passed due to treache collapse as she was my world. As swore I couldnt ever replace her. Last week went on Toms website and say yorkie puppy n my heart melted. I took my two boys to see her and knew she was for us. She is amazing and healthy. Thank you Toms for our angel.
As someone who worked in a similar pet store with the same exact setup, and was required to read the same scripts these employees do to deceive and sell, do NOT buy animals from here if you care about their health or whereabouts. Look up Lancaster puppy mills and you will see exactly where they get their puppies from. There are thousands of reputable breeders who are happy to show you both parents of a puppy and their surroundings. Health gaurentees mean nothing. These type of businesses exploit animals and only view them as profit. Adopt a puppy or do your research on actual breeders. The staff is also very rude everytime I have asked to see a dog, as if it is a pain for them to do their job or let the poor things have some free time. Surprised they have not attracted any protestors yet.
My name is Brandon and I wont give my last name but I am their top customer i have spent a lot of hard earned money and I sorry to say I wont be coming back because of the disrespect I literally spent all the money Ive had and i never ask for hand outs i believe in earning my money fair and square through hard work but it was 1 day away from pay day and I ordered a pet rat i was told 8 dollars over the phone so I literally walked from Norristown because I couldnt get a ride to get the pet rat but I had a ride home i had just enough money to buy the pet rat and had a Uber scheduled but it was like my money didnt matter anymore every i go to that store Toms Pet Outlet employees talk about feeding small pets to Snakes and I get into a argument about it saying you cant be saying that to customers no one is friendly there i am satisfied with my pets thats not the issue its the employees treating me unfairly with their rotten attitudes and lying about prices i literally walked over 5 miles to get here because I wasnt concerned about myself i put the animal first i rather spend money on a Uber ride home i just cant believe how unprofessional these employees have treated me it was embarrassing and humiliating to have to put the pet rat in my cage just take it out because I didnt have enough money when originally the price was 8 dollars not 13!! but of course I looked like the one in the wrong because they all ganged up on me and wouldnt admit the price was wrong it was a waste of time and money and a lot of effort and embarrassing no one deserves to be treated like that i should sue you guys i have ptsd and anxiety and depression and pets help me with my life but you guys wanna make fun of me do you even care what someone else is going through or you just want your money
Be VERY AWARE that anything you purchase from this store supports someone who in turn most likely supports puppy mills. Pennsylvania is notorious as one of the states that turns a blind eye to this practice. Do you know where Toms get their puppies? Ask them. If you dont want to support puppy mills, dont buy from a pet store. If youre not sure how the parent dogs were treated, or you werent given the chance to see the mother dog, chances are youre dealing with someone who buys his puppies from a puppy mill. (For Heavens sake dont buy a dog on line!) Try adopting or go to a reputable breeder. Youll most likely have a healthier, happier pet and wont give your hard-earned dollars to people who are heartless enough to treat innocent animals so cruelly.
Love it great staff an cute puppies..looking for second dog ..for my family with 3young kids...have large dog looking for smaller second was allowed to visit with three pups an can bring my dog back ..to see how they interact..staff spent time with me with no push for a sale...had good pricing...an dealt with five different staff members all were great ..Ill b back too but my pup
BEWARE: They have NOT stood behind THEIR warranty nor Pennsylvanias Kennel Assurance Program (a Lemon Law for dog purchasers for anything that happens within the first 10 days). We purchased our puppy on 7/12/14 and within 3 days he was diagnosed with Giardia and yeast infection of his ears. Just 4 days later, he developed severe Cherry Eye which had to be operated on. All communicated with TPO, faxed invoices and surgery estimate PRIOR to surgery, but TPO did not return the phone calls. Now, a week after I have faxed a final cost of the dual cherry eye surgery, all medications, and tests which I had to pay the vet from my pocket, I AM STILL WAITING DIANE REED AND TOM!!!!!!!I WANT MY PAYMENT of $837.79 OR YOU WILL SEE ME IN COURT! I am also still waiting documentation of the name and address of my puppys breeder, the day my puppy arrived to TPO and TPOs vet who cared for my puppy.

2022-06-22I got my puppy just about a month ago and my main concern was his health and well being. He is the happiest and healthiest little boy and I’m so grateful to Tom’s for the time, assurance, and assistance in ensuring my success as a puppy parent. Not only does their store offer great value, but you can tell that they truly care about their animals and the people who take them home. To the employees, here’s a 15 week update on the mini aussiepoo, now known as Koda!

2022-02-27I needed some plants for my tank and the employees were super helpful and knowledgeable. While the plant selection wasn’t huge they had an uncommon selection I don’t see in box stores. The plants where also very healthy and I’m excited to see how they grow.

2020-08-29Friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Worked with 3 different people and had the same great experience with each. They provided helpful information and when I asked about temperament for a dog breed one staff member was unfamiliar with they quickly found someone more experienced with the breed for us to speak with and then checked back to see if they could help us in any other way. They were great with my children as well. Very patient. We were also looking for a guinea pig. They helped with all of our questions and had great recomendations for habitats, food and other supplies.

2021-07-28Bought two purebred malteses from Toms about nine years ago. One unfortunately passed away. When I reached out to one of the owners and asked them if there was any chance the dogs bloodline was still active, they told me they hadnt gotten a dog from that person in a few years. Fair enough. I then asked them if they could contact the breeder directly and was told that they get their dogs from a 3rd party so that the breeders dont have to deal with the public. Red flags started to go off in my head and I thanked the owner and wrote a letter directly to the breeder. The breeder told me the police had taken away all her dogs because she was breeding them unethically. These dogs are puppy mill dogs that are bought from a 3rd party so that Toms can play dumb when the puppy mill question comes up.I also had genetic testing on my other dog a few months ago. He was sold to us as a purebred maltese. He is a mutt. 60% coton, 40% poodle. Zero percent maltese. When I contacted Toms about it, they did nothing. Not even an apology. Please do not do business with these people. Heres some pictures of my purebred maltese. Hes 14 pounds and skinny for his frame. Breed standard is a maximum of 8.5 pounds. There is also a picture of him next to a breed standard maltese. Beware that what you are buying is not even close to what you are getting.
