A group of friends and I went to play minigolf at Tussey Mountain. The course was nice and clean, however it left some elements to be desired. Like tee off spots on each hole, signs listing par for the hole. The course difficulty is pretty low, which caters to younger audiences more so than adults. Overall it was nice, but the course was small.
Went there for the first time with the family. Nice little place near State college with some fun things to do. I thought the prices were pretty good too. They had driving range, batting cages, par 3 golf, mini golf, and go karts. The go karts were our favorite. $5 a ride and they gave you a long time on the track too. I would definitely recommend.
Very fun-- we went for the miniature golf and the go-karts. Had a blast and it was pretty cheap as well. Offered a par 3 golf course, driving range, and batting cages in the same area.In the winter they also offer snow tubing, skiing, and snowboarding but I havent tried those events.
The quad lift broke when we arrived in the afternoon. Novice skiers so we bought beginners area tickets only. They have a t-bar lift as an alternative that goes to the top of the mountain. After a little less than an hour they repaired the quad lift. They were very accommodating and allowed us to upgrade the lift ticket and pay only the difference. The pro shop was small but the staff was genuine and helpful. Purchased two pairs of Jr skis for a reasonable price. Had the bindings mounted and ready next day as promised. The lodge itself was OK. The food variety was OK and the quality was better than fair. The staff was very nice but seemed disorganized.Snow conditions seemed OK on the hills but theres a lot of ice around the lodge. Not many trails. Besides the beginner area there are only two other beginner trails. Will continue to bring kids here regularly.
Attended the tussey mountain wing fest and wow it was a lot of fun. They really have a great set up going on. It so simple to purchase tickets and to use them to buy wings and drinks. They had a great Tom petty tribute band playing. The atmosphere was great and everyone seemed to really be enjoying themselves. I would definitely recommend to any wing enthusiast.
I had a great time skiing here. It is an excellent location, save for the employees. I bought three two hour passes at 3PM. The slopes were scheduled to close at 5PM. The staff at the location closed at 4:30PM without any warning or explanation. I spent $225 for everything. I was not given a refund for the time lost. Also, while I was coming off of one of the ski lifts, part of my clothing was caught on it. I attempted to get the nearest employees attention (less than 10 feet away from me at the end of the ski lift) but she was texting instead of paying any attention. Luckily the piece of clothing was ripped off and I was not dragged along with it... My experience here has given me the impression that the people who run this place dont give a damn about their customers.
I gave it 3 stars because its one of few ski areas in the area so if you want to get your skiing fix then this is it. One or two black diamonds that were well groomed the day I went. Lift tickets seemed expensive for what you get but if dont rent it is well worth it. The tubing park is old fashioned and a pretty good time. They also have mini golf, go karts, and a batting cage in the warmer months.
3 maybe 4 trails total-very expensive for how small and old everything is. If you have an extra hour or two the drive to ANY other mountain (blue knob, camel back, seven springs, hidden valley) all will be better for your money. This is for locals to teach their kids how to ski, gear is updated every couple of years, there is a bar in the back if it’s opened, “cafeteria” is bad bring your own food, bathrooms are old and small, don’t plan on changing in there. Terrain park is okay, some of the two trails would be okay if they weren’t blowing snow in your face ALL the time. They’re just trying to build a base so they can stay opened and charge money longer-don’t care about quality of skiers actually using the slopes right then.
Hasnt been much snow this season, so that is definitely affecting my rating. However, the resort is quite small and their snow makers are quite dated. The fake snow they put out is poor quality, making it so people dont ski in that deeper snow as it is so wet it is like skiing through sand. Also, where at most resorts the workers on the lifts are friendly, here they are not... They dont seem to be too happy to be at work, which makes a big difference in the quality of the resort. The employees in the kitchen/restaurant were quite friendly though.
I love how accessible Tussey is to State College, how much they do with the community in terms of lift ticket deals/ski lessons/live music events/summer activities, and how good the conditions can be even when only 1-2 trails are open. The snack bar has classic mountain food (burgers, fries, soft pretzels) while the bar has restaurant-y food like pierogis and loaded nachos. Always a good time, IMO.
I attended Tussey Mountain for their weekly Wing Fest events they hold each summer. They do a good job of getting good music acts to play each week and a nice selection of restaurants to compete. The prices could be better especially for beverages and the wings. I would still very much recommend going to a Wing Fest. Few tips I can provide. Bring comfortable chairs that can be setup on the incline. Also bring a short box to put the boats of wings from each place into to ease in carrying.
A nice mix of mini golf, a driving range, and a go-kart track for summer activities. None of them are particularly special, but theyre what you might expect. The prices are reasonable and some of the specials are great. They also regularly have events like movie night for the community.
In February 2017, my daughter, who was visiting from Indiana (the State), took my grandsons there for a ski lesson. The instructors were very patient and good with the kids. My daughter said its a small ski hill, good for beginners. She was happy overall. I also took my son and grandson there in July 2017 and they raced the go-carts. We also played a round of mini-golf, which a little challenging on some tees. We had fun. I would go again for sure.
We went for the first round of Wingfest recently. Its such a great venue for this type of event. I mostly relaxed and listened to the live music while sampling local wings, and my kids walked to the top of a mountain. Tussey does a great job with this event, and I think it just gets better every year.
Attended Wing Fest. The food was great, as was the company. The opening act for the main attraction was terrible. Im not a singer & dont pretend to be - but I know better than to get up on stage and try to sing. I feel like the ball was dropped on the entertainment. It was so bad we actually had to leave - there was no tuning it out & from the people we heard in the parking lot leaving - we werent the only ones with this reason. Well definitely go again - but will use more caution deciding which night were going to go
I recently attended the seasonal Ski Swap at Tussey Mountain Ski Lodge. They offered used and last years ski equipment at decent prices. The staff was very helpful, things were well-organized, and I feel like I got a good deal. Im looking forward to the upcoming ski season and using my new equipment. I have skied at Tussey in previous years and would recommend it for anyone who lives nearby. The resort is small but extremely convenient so I can be on the slopes within minutes.
Wing Fest. 5 restaurants compete each week with a winner at the end of summer with total votes. 2 - $1 tickets get you three wings. Beer wagons, live music, wine and mixed drinks. Other foods available. $5 to get in. Drinks and other food extra. Great bands each week!!
Compact area that offers skiing and boarding near State College. Friendly staff, has a snack area that serves burgers, fries, pizza, chili, chicken fingers and other snacks. Ski conditions were good today. Also offer some night skiing. Not an upscale resort but small, friendly and well maintained.
Alot of people will say that its too small and this is kind of true but like come on were not in Colorado? They always have at least 3 to 4 slopes open of varriering difficulty and theyre of acceptable quality. My only complaint is without a season or group rate pass it can be really expensive especially for college kids. Like as high as $40 for 2 hours on a Wednesday.
Was there on a rainy day so go-karts were closed. We had a family fun pack and asked if we could just have extra balls for driving range instead of go karts. Was told NO. Its not like it would have cost them more. And it was not busy. Instead our fun pack was partly used. Also the guys working there were less than friendly. Will not be going back
Great place to ski, but its not a large resort by any means, but its fairly cheap at least. Could use more trails and more snow machines on some of their smaller trials. Lions Run is never open unless we get a large amount of natural snow in the area because they dont make snow on that trail. Although lookout for the ski shop inside the lodge, right inside the main entrance, they arent owned by Tussey and everything is WAY overpriced.
Attended round 6 of Wingfest in 2017. Thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere of live music, company of great friends, and delicious food and drink offerings. The weather was absolutely perfect for mid-August in central PA. Big Spring Spirits mixed drinks were the best part of the night, hands down.
Went to last Wingfest. Started raining and everyone bailed at once. Sat in the parking lot for close to an hour trying to get out, no movement at all They were asolutely unprepared to handle traffic, but were readily prepared to take our money for beer and food. Probably the last event Ill attend there.
Weve been to Tussey Mountain many times to ski and snowboard. The staff is always knowledgeable and eager to share their love of snow sports. My daughters have participated in ski school for several years and the instructors are fabulous. My oldest has also done IM skiing through the school district. We are very lucky to have such a well run facility in our backyard with so many programs and options for skiing and snowboarding.
Wing fest was good, kinda pricey for wings 3 wings for $2. Lines can be long but not much can be done about that.Update: In response to the owners comment: Champs- $0.50 per wing on wing night, just to name one. Obviously if you go on a non wing night it will be more. However, I would view Wing Fest a type of wing night
Got married at Tussey and I could not be happier with the staff and venue. They are truly dedicated to their clientele! Christie Hume is a godsend. She was easy to work with, very accommodating and a load of fun to work with. The end result was a beautiful venue, well executed, and absolutely tasty food!!!! Could not be happier and would do it all again in an instant. Best part, I got to ride a go cart in my wedding dress and ride a ski lift as well!!!!! It does not get better than that!
Were here in Pennsylvania from Louisiana on our family winter vacation. We decided to go here on a recommendation from my brother in law. While my family had fun, I was not afforded the same opportunity. Your children have to be at least 4 years old. Thats not the problem, they then expect them to go down the mountain in that tube by themselves. So for my toddler to ride, he would have had to ride by himself. Something about insurance options. Disappointed.
Skatepark is awesome. Probably one of the widest varieties I’ve seen at a park like this. Box jumps, wallrides, good quarters and a ton of cool techy street stuff. Also, can’t forget the view, the mountain right there. Nice staff and price is reasonable. Ramps are moderately well kept. Only thing... watch out in the dead summer. There’s NO shade. That concrete gets really hot and just cooks yah.
Normally a decent experience. However, we came today, March 19, 2017. The mountain is covered in snow but it is posted that the snow tubing is closed for the season. What is not posted anywhere near where you purchase your lift tickets is that none of the beginner trails are open. So after purchasing lift tickets and rentals, we were disappointed to find that not all of us could ski/snowboard due to the fact that some can only use the beginner trails. When I went to ask why this wasnt posted near the counter where you purchase lift tickets I was treated very rudely by the man behind the counter, as well as an older gentleman (I use the term loosely) who came into the ticket area. So as far as customer service goes, from these two individuals, it is severely lacking.
Over the years I have been to Tussy for snow tubing, fishing, par 3 golf, to watch movies and for Wing Fest. They have everything there and more. In my experience they have the best setvice and attention to detail. They are very community involved and have great commitment to putting on the best show whatever they are doing.
I was here for the Rothrock Trailfest and Tussey did an ok job. However they made people buy tickets that could be exchanged for beer or food. This doesnt sound too bad until you find out that they dont accept cards at the ticket booth and their ATM is out of service. I feel bad for all the food truck vendors that came out as Im sure their sales were impacted.
A nice 4 Seasons family fun center. The mountain is small, but its super close to Penn State and even on the CATA route. There is a cafeteria and full service bar onsite. Winter sports arent all Tussey is known for. Mini golf, driving range, batting cages, go carts and par 3 golf too. Dont forgot summer movies, concerts, OctoberFest, Celtic Fling.
Celtic Fest., The Bands were Great,BUT .......... WAIT FOR IT ........again this year no VENDORS !!!!!, just the same thing they had last year !! The onlyFood was Tussey Mountains pretty much short of hot dogs, and walking tacos, andAnother food vendor placed on the other side of the event !!!!, You NEEDED TICKETS !!TO PURCHASE EVERYTHING !!!!!!, Food wasEXPENSIVE !!! and so was the ALCOHOL !!!,The bad thing about that was the priceStay the same but the (CUPS GOT SMALLER)through out the evening $5.00 for a 8 oz.Miller lite, $6.00 and up to $8.00 for anything foreign !!, $5.00 for a 1-2 oz shot !!!!, I would understand if the place had more Bands, and Vendors. The JOB JONNIES / BATHROOMS ,you had to hike uphill to get to them !!!!!, Dont get me WRONG !!!!! I LOVED THEMUSIC AND DANCING, !!!!! you cant find this kind of thing close in this AREA !!!!!!!BUT DONT UPCHARGE / OVERPRICE EVERYTHING or not let Vendors in !!!You would / could make more money this way then LOSING Business.PLEASE ADD MORE VENDORS AND LOWER THE PRICES !!!!!!
I took a Penn State Course KINES 11A which is a skiing course with Pennsylvania State University. I ended up dropping the course. They guaranteed that if I drop the course, I can get refund. I followed the procedure for getting the refund but they never got back to me or gave me a refund that they had guaranteed. This is extremely unprofessional. I sent multiple emails and called them multiple times and they just dont respond.
My visit to Tussey Mountain was for Wing Fest during July. Parking was free. The event was on the mountain side so there is always a hill to walk on. Getting out can be troublesome because if you have to turn left, it can take a while because of the high volume of traffic. They sometimes have traffic officers to help though.

2022-03-16The mountains here are so beautiful. In the summer there’s mini golf, a range and a par 3 course (I believe). My favorite thing they do is Wingfest, where you pay $10 to get in and $1 per ticket. Wings were 2 for 3 tickets last year. Not bad for Covid prices! Whichever competitor has the most tickets wins. While eating chicken, jam out to whatever band is on stage. In the winter, the ski slopes are ok. Not too many trails to choose from and they don’t seem to groom the little they do have, so it can get icy.

2021-02-01Overall I had a great experience. To start locating the general place is simple but could definitely use more signage for literally everything. Just park in the big parking lot are start walking around. You will eventually find what youre looking for. Most of the staff was pleasant but unfortunately there was a Karen working there today who didnt seem like she wanted to be there. Other than that my family and myself had a wonderful time making memories.

2022-03-08Very good! Getting rental skis and a lift ticket can be a bit pricey (around $85 if I remember correctly) but thats not bad for a ski place. Ski/board boots, helmets, and ski poles are free to rent too! The lodge food was very good, though Im not sure of their vegetarian/vegan options. It was also fairly cheap, with about 10-11 dollars for a meal with an entree, side, and drink. Snow slopes are well tended, and the ski patrol are very helpful. I had a bad fall on Deer Run (From inexperience, not the fault of Tussy), and I had two separate Ski Patrol people ask me if I was alright afterwards. Overall, very good experience! Would definitely recommend.

2021-06-27We went the go karts this afternoon. Actually the weather is pretty good. Usually it takes six dollars per round, each takes for about four minutes. The service is pretty good but some of the seatbelts are worn off so maybe they should renew the seatbelt.(suggestion)

2021-02-24I like Tussey a lot. It is my home mountain, but there are some downsides. The conditions are icy much of the time, but occasionally you’ll get some powder. The mountain isn’t that big, but it’s still fun! If you’ve never gone skiing, do everyone a favor and don’t try anything crazy. Try to stick to the easier runs, such as Deer Run or the Little Bear. If you like to do tricks, they will most likely have something to grind on or jump off of, so have fun! If you are, by chance, visiting during the summer, then you can go mini golfing, go karting, go the skate park, go to the batting cages, or the driving range. Mini golf course is fun, and has water flowing throughout the course. Go karts are great, but some of the karts are uneven in power (pick the dark blue one, with the double seat). Skate park has some good features, such as a half pipe and some drops.

2020-09-06Played the short par 3 golf course and it was very fun. Not many people and for $15 that can’t really be beat. Greens could use some work but for $15 I wasn’t excepting much. Great bored at home activity.

2018-01-26Really fun place to spend the afternoon at, especially when the weather is clear. Went on a Friday afternoon and it was very quiet, and the snow was awesome. Decided to take a ski lesson, and the instructor (Andrew) was very patient with us and taught us the basics in a very efficient manner. The price is fairly reasonable for the courses available. However, the beginner course at the top of the mountain stems from a route that higher level skiers take, hence its rather dangerous. Its also rather steep at the beginning of the course, so beginners have to take note if you are going to the top of the mountain. Lastly, it gets really crowded when the school kids arrive for their lessons.Nonetheless, it was a really fun day and Id definitely recommend this place if youre in State College and looking for fun activities.

2022-02-12The chair lift is very dangerous!!!! The staff operating the lift is very unprofessional and careless. The worst nightmare you can have in a ski resort. My child and I got hit by the chair lift from the back and had bad injuries even at the beginner level. THERE IS NO PROTECTION while sitting on the lift!!! DO NOT ski there if you are a beginner. They should provide surface lift rather than arial lift for beginners. I wouldnt be surprised if they got sued for injuring their customers. The parking lot is gross and full of mud.
