The coffee is good but it’s kind of ridiculous for a coffee shop not to open until 8am. That’s crazy town. Several times I’ve been looking for a good cup of coffee around 7:30am and drive right by Ultimo, excited when I see it, and disappointed when I realize it’s not open yet. Feel like they’re missing out on business, including mine. That’s not even that early especially for a coffee shop.
I ordered a vanilla latte, that was EXQUISITE! It was smooth and velvety, perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness. The atmosphere here is quiet and relaxing; although there was a steady stream of clientele, the pace was never harried or unwelcoming. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable, welcoming and made me feel very welcome. Goodbye Starbucks, HELLO ULTIMO!
This is my favorite coffee shop in Philly, and Ill come from several miles away to hang out here. The environment is fantastic for working in: music not too late, large windows, and good smell. Wifi works well. Im not a coffee drinker, but everyone Ive gone with enjoys the coffee. The tea is good.
I consider it the best tasting coffee with surprisingly good merchandise. Seriously, the shirts and mugs they sell are super cool. Not 5 stars because it’s not the coziest of spots to do work or sit. If you need a good coffee I think it beats Ultimo by far. Unless you’re a Wawa person but then why are you reading this coffee review?
A cute quiet place for a break or dates , with good coffee or tea that workers will make right there font of you by your order . Nothing feels great than organic products. While time you need to finish your work, home work, meeting online... you can enjoy a good drink and snack over here . Better than big , busy, prices place else.
Ultimo consistently has the best cup of coffee in Philadelphia. And I saw this as someone who had tried most of the better shops. What distinguishes their brew from the pack is flavor - its one of the only places Ive ever been where different beans are actually distinct experiences of flavor and aroma. Outside of brewed coffee (espresso, tea, etc), they are still definitely top tier, but dont stand out in the same way from the myriad of other excellent shops out there. Also worth noting: it is an excellent space. Tons of natural light, and manages to fit lots of people without seeming overcrowded. Could really use some more electrical outlets though, especially along the windows.
The ascetic of this location is gorgeous, with a very clean feel and lots of natural sunlight. A lovely place to sit and enjoy the morning. My shot of Geisha Esmeralda was unfortunately pretty salty. I wont knock them too much for this (geishas are notoriously hard to pull as espresso) but given this (and the price, $6) I was disappointed the barista didnt follow up afterward. Part of me really respects that they put the coffee on the menu, but its a risky choice that isnt always going to pay off. Still, a lovely place and the other couple of times the pour overs have been delicious.
I went to Ultimo because of the high reviews. Although the coffee is good and comparable to La Colombe and other hi quality coffee shops where you spend 4$ for a small latte, the customer service wasnt good. Some might think it is too much ask to much for extra hot and specify 175 degrees I dont when I am spe ding a lot of a special coffee. To totally disregard that request is not customer friendly. If I ask to have it extra hot it isnt saying g that you dont know how to make my latte its just the way I like it.not customer friendly.
Meh. One of these new coffee-fad places that sells bitter pour over coffees as if its a luxury item. I wish these wimpy coffee places would get over themselves, have at least one or two dark roast available with some real deep, strong flavor.Of course if youre a hipster, and youve grown up thinking that this is what coffee is supposed to taste like, youll love it. :-D(Just kidding kids, everybody is entitled to like what they like)
Cool local spot where beer and coffee meet. Coffee is great there. But unlike starbucks their other drinks are lack luster. An iced soy chai just comes out of 2 boxes. And thats that. Its an amazing place to people watch and do work. Its an ideal local hang out in an up and coming neighborhood. Its like a little melting pot! Cute place for sure.
My favorite coffee shop in Philadelphia for high quality single origin coffee, and Ive been to more than 20 coffee shops in the center city/ South Philly area . Freindly staff that are knowledgeable staff, they can all make a mean pour over. Good treats sourced from local bakeries.
Ultimo is, quite simply, the best coffee roaster/retailer in Philadelphia. Their baristas are clearly well-trained at brewing pour overs and espresso (I would imagine that it is not a coincidence that Counter Cultures training center is located upstairs), and all of their drinks are exceptionally delicious. There are some Philadelphia-based roasters that seem to be focused on style over substance, but this place is consistently terrific.
Worst coffee I ever had me daughter ordered an ice coffee and I ordered a coffee light. The coffee was wrong the way I ordered it. I received the coffee dark she fixed it and I took a sip and wasn’t pleased . It tasted like water. I can go to wawa and get better coffee
I had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a cup of hot coffee, black. When I sat down to drink it and hang out for a second, I was mentally preparing what I would say in my bad review. Then I tasted the coffee. Worth the wait, best coffee Ive had in Philly. Maybe dont come here if youre in a hurry.
At first going into the coffee shop the customer service was not the best. For my first time there I had a not so good experience. However, I did reach out to the owner who is amazing!! and he addressed and took care of the problem. At first I wanted to give to 1 star for customer service and 5 stars for the quality. Overall, Ultimo is a place you will enjoy!
All I wanted was WiFi. I went with my computer, got a canned drink which after paying found was way over priced. Sat down and tried to connect to the WiFi, it did not work. To top it all off, the music was terrible. I tried to wait it out to finish my bad drink before leaving, but I just couldnt.

2021-06-22Lovely corner coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating. Friendly and knowledgeable staff that are happy to chat. Had an iced coffee and the hibiscus tea, both were perfectly brewed. Ordered a simple black coffee for my friend and they made an individual pour over for him. Best lemon square that Ive had in years, the lemon curd had a perfect sweet-tart pop that was off set by the buttery crust. Very reasonable prices and a great location to meet up with others.

2022-04-08Honestly probably the best place to get a consistently delicious cup of drip coffee in the city. I find rival coffee shops here to be a bit too acidic and varying in quality/taste, while Ultimo is always smooth and consistent in quality. If I’m nearby, I go out of my way to stop here.

2021-12-24Reliably delicious espresso and coffee in general. Good amount of outdoor seating and the staff is pretty friendly too. Pastries are good and if I want a quick pick me up, this is where you’ll most likely find me.

2022-03-25Coffee is good, but I can’t bring my dog inside so you lost two stars, but overall super nice coffee shop and the vibes are good unless you have a doggo then the vibes aren’t fun.

2022-01-04One of my top 5 favorite places to get coffee in Philadelphia. One complaint: theyre always out of chocolate croissants! The coffee is strong and whatever milk they use for their drinks, it is delicious and addictive.

2021-12-02Edit: theyre pricing their case now, +1 star!Good coffee, wonderfully efficient & polite service, excellent sweet stuff. Ultimo gets their pastries from Dotties Donuts several days a week, which almost always sell out, but there are also a few sleepers hidden in the non-Dotties fare, such as the zucchini bread and apricot bars.My two major criticisms are the lack of signage on some of the products in their pastry case, making it difficult to judge what some things are / how much they cost, and that there are not enough plus-sized options for the drip coffee. As a result, Ill still get the cheaper 16oz cup from the nearby Wawa if Im not craving a Dotties, and dont feel like Im truly missing anything when I do. 3 stars.
