These folks are the best. John helped set me up with an old slide projector, and when I bent the trays mechanism in the first day of using it, he found me a new tray. He took the time to show me how to use the projector, and advised me on the project I was working on. Most knowledgeable, helpful, neighborly business you could ask for. Cant think of anywhere else I would want to take my cameras (or other equipment) for care and service. Thank you guys!
I came in for help with my mom’s Nikon FE (the camera my grandpa gave her when she graduated high school, so it’s super special to my family); my rewind stopped working (and fell off) and I was having some issues with my reload catching. The team here was so helpful and kind; they fixed my rewind and immediately noticed some other potential issues with its mechanics that they also fixed. Super fast service - I cannot recommend them highly enough! They were professional and knowledgeable and made my day.
This is a great company. They save my life today! They had a pre-owned camera model that was discontinued that was needed for our photo booth. The camera was stolen from our kit on Friday. Needed to find a replacement within a few hours of our next event. They saved the day and the client was very happy for the photos. The customer service was excellent. I will definitely make other purchases from this company.
Both Ben and Matt were extremely helpful when I was shopping for a camera... They were also very patient and provided tremendous information regarding the functionality of the Nikon D3500 I purchased. Overall, a very pleasant experience ! Very satisfied customerhere. Thank you Ben and Matt!
Always a treat to come in. The most friendly and knowledgeable camera store in the city. They might not have all the services like printing and processing but they have the best (new and used) equipment, most knowledgeable staff in regards to the equipment, and above all the best customer service. Great selection of film and paper too.
Extremely patient and knowledgable staff.Yesterday I went into Webb Cam with the intention of buying a lens, but in the back of my head I was prepared to pull the trigger on a new body as well. However Mercury in Retrograde or just my bad luck was proving to make this a way more challenging sale. After many failed attempts made on my card the staff proceeded to be patient and kind, not once did they make me feel like a slack who didnt pay their bill or like I didnt have the funds. Having worked in repair, rental and sales for many years in the past I know how challenging photo nerds can be so I appreciate your courteous staff.I never write reviews but I felt compelled share my experience spending my money at a local business with friendly, knowledgeable & professional staff.Just want to say thank you, look forward to spending all my money again there in the future.Autumn
Entering this store made me feel like I was a criminal, and the management were officers ready to arrest me.I have visited this camera shop multiple times over the last few years. My original review was a 5 star review. At the time, I was impressed by the selection of equipment the store had to offer. Originally buying photo chemicals, Ive bought lots of film rolls, and other products from this shop.In Fall 2019 I visited with my sister to teach her film photography, and purchased a few hundred dollars worth of film, developing tanks, reels, a thermometer, etc. I also purchased two camera straps; one for me and one for her. An employee with a moustache assisted me.Upon arriving home, I found the larger camera strap was evidently used, with rust and corrosion on the rings. It seemed to even be the wrong color than pictured on the box.Being a busy student, I returned the next week (Saturday) to explain my situation with the management. Not only did the employees pretend they didnt remember my purchase last week, they reprimanded me. This very same moustached employee claimed to not recall...They told me in a disrespectful tone multiple times that there was no way this could have happened as the straps were sealed from the factory.I walk back to the strap section with one of the employees and I pointed at an *unsealed* strap in the back section!I own nearly 20 film cameras, probably 100 lenses, and digital bodies, incl Nikon D850. There is absolutely no reason I would attempt to return a used item. Yet, this store treated me as if I were a criminal!Extremely dissatisfied. The owner took my name & # and hasnt called back since. They have indeed lost my business.
Great selection of new and used gear as well as a surprisingly huge range of supplies. Ben and the rest of the staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and are always happy to help, but never pushy or obnoxious. Prices on gear are also very competitive. This is a place for people who love photography or want to learn to love it.
This was one of the most frustrating and unvalued feeling customer service experiences I have ever had. I have a class that meets once a week, I realized this week my lens wouldn’t work for my class assignment. Since it’s a few days before payday my budget was tight. I found a 70$ lens online that would work for my class in a couple days. I ordered the lens online for In store pick up, and aside from confirmation of their receipt of the order I never heard anything back one way or the other. Since I worked nearby I stopped by to try and pick up. Once there I found out they had actually sold the lens I ordered. I was then offered lenses for almost double the price which I just didn’t have. I work in customer service, I get that these hiccups happen what made me upset enough to leave a review was that they didn’t even seem sorry. It was poorly explained to me and I felt like I was the one who had done something wrong at the end of it. I just needed an affordable lens for class which I thought I had gotten. I felt completely unvalued as a customer and considering what a disappointing and stressful situation this was for me their attitude in the way it was handled was completely unappreciated.
My wife and I were in town doing our tourists thing when I realized that I only had a 16GB SD card in my a7iii. Naturally the chain stores (read: CVS) were gouging the prices on their biggest cards (basic 32GB cards). So I walked a few blocks down to Webb Cam, was greeted by who I believe was the owner, and was promptly helped in finding a very fast 128GB card at a reasonable price!I just wish I had a store like this in my home town. They had a nice selection of lenses on display, a ton of accessories and gear, and more. If I ever make it back to Philly, Ill be sure to drop back in. Best wishes!
Webb Cam is a gem. I swung in there this afternoon with a couple of broken cameras (an older DSLR and a Canon AE-1 Program 35mm) and received some of the best customer service Ive encountered in a long time. The owner, John, took care of me and was attentive, knowledgeable, & super helpful. The shop is well stocked with both new and used equipment, and they were able to quickly diagnose and spruce up both of the cameras I brought in. A nice reminder of why local businesses are important, Amazon couldnt have gone the extra mile to wipe down my lens filter, or analyze the state of my favorite old Canon. These are good dudes, give them a visit.
Excellent customer service, very knowledgeable sales people. Good stock, good selection. How many places can you go where the staff will take your camera and demonstrate the lenses they have on display? Not many, if any in Center City or nearby. Dont listen to complaints, theyre probably from people that demand customer service, but arent willing to pay a little extra for personalized service. Webb Cam has competitive pricing. And no Im not an employee or in any way affiliated with them, just a satisfied customer.
I was feeling panicked that I locked myself out of my camera as my battery compartment wouldn’t open. I came in as a walk in and they fixed my camera in about 2 minutes. They then took the time to educate me on how to properly but the battery compartment door back on after using my battery grip in the future! I highly recommend! I’ll be back next time I need a repair or a purchase! 💃🏼🙌🏻
The folks at Webb Cam LLC are as friendly as they come. As a hobbyist that is new to the photography game, I felt as though I gained a friendly ally at Webb Cam LLC. The owner was even gracious enough to offer me some helpful starter tips that I will undoubtedly keep in mind as I begin my adventure with my new camera. I will surely continue to give Webb Cam my business in the future.
I traded in my old camera gear thinking it would be worth it because I needed a new tripod. The tripod they gave me was terrible. It was a promaster scout and they had told me it would be durable and hold my camera perfectly. After two weeks of use the tripod head stopped working. Then after dropping it one time the entire head fell off and broke. Wishing the products they sell and overcharge for were better quality. Not upset about the deal I made only upset about the fact I was mislead with information. Maybe they should know more about their products before they persuade people into purchasing.
I’ve been coming to this camera shop for a few years now, and not once have i had a bad experience at this establishment. I have traded gear and they always been reasonable and honest with the value of it, I also had purchase many of gear from here which have function 100%. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and always vary helpful, I highly recommend Webb Cam.
Last week I visited Webb Cam to trade in a lens. The owner was very patient with me and made sure to service me well. After constantly visiting B&H in New York, I was happy to find a smaller shop and actually have a conversation. The employees were helpful and I would recommend stopping in to anyone willing to make a purchase or trade in!
Made a walk in about a repair that my camera had. They were super kind and was able to make my repair on the spot!!! There aren’t many camera repair shops in the area and I see why: they can’t compete with web cam llc! Would recommend for anyone with camera needs and repairs.
Was on a road trip and had a tripod break on me. John was able to help me out after bringing up a warranty for the tripod from my local camera store back home, and we made it work. EXTREMELY thankful for this shop for helping me save another $100 while away from home. Thank you!
They are always willing to help and they go out of their way to get repairs back quickly. Its worthwhile getting to know them - there arent many camera shops like theirs left in the area, and it sure beats the hike up to Hunting Valley for NYCV. If they dont have anything in stock, they will order for you and notify you the minute it comes in. I cant tell you how happy I am that I found them. Their rental prices and lengths are fairly priced. Since finding them, I have been there at least 2-3 x a month for rentals, repairs and purchases.
I try to avoid big box stores and support locally owned businesses as much as I can but no longer will I back this place. I previously had 2 cameras serviced and purchased 2 brand new cameras from this place. I asked for a camera that would be a good job site camera that would withstand use on a construction site. He recommended a song with a fixed lens that ended up breaking beyond economical repair within the first week. I brought it in to try and see what could be done considering my previous business and their relationships with vendors. They displayed zero sympathy for the situation I experienced based off their recommendation. In addition they held on to the camera for 2 months without notifying me of my fate until I had to call and walk the man on the phone through how to locate my service ticket. This place blows, go to best buy or just call B and H photo for real service.
This is a supper good store which provides fantastic services and goods.John and staffs are very patient! Also, they are professional advisors, gave me suggestions that really meet my personal needs. The price is very fairly given. Everybody knows B&H, tax free and free shipping, but you can never get serviced as here. Same price, but Webb Cam LLC really helped me make best choice for me. You shouldnt ignore this part of money saving.I personally bought Canon 70-200mm IS II USM F2.8, canon fisheye, Leica M-P with 35mm summicron F 2.0 here. They were all great deals!
I gave 2 stars because i will not act as if i dont like my camera because i do. What i DONT like is being mislead. When i purchased my camera, we compared 2 different ones. Not once did the man explain to me anything about updates. long story short after spending 2 days on the phone with the cameras support system, they told me it needed to be updated with a cord . The cord didnt come with the camera because it was used. When i called this store the guy tells me i have to pay $15 for a cord. Sir im NOT paying for a cord when all of this should have been explained. Then he got all saying telling me how he gave me a charger when he really should have charged me. I didnt ask for favors or a discount so if you feel as though you giving me something was a way for you to talk disgusting towards me YOU CAN HAVE YOUR PRODUCT BACK ! I will never purchase an item from this EXPENSIVE store again ! These reviews are misleading !
This place is amazing! This was the first time Ive had the sensor cleaned on my Pentax K50, and Webb Cam offers the best price Ive seen and did a perfect job. It had that classic camera store feel for sure, and its location near Market East station made it a breeze to get to from the suburbs (plus its a good excuse to go to Reading Terminal Market for lunch). As mentioned, this was the first time Id ever had a sensor cleaned so I have nothing to compare it to results wise, but my images are flawless again and by comparison the best prices Ive found out here (in Montgomery County) were $80 and $120 and both of those had a minimum 3-5 day turnaround time. Instead, they do the cleaning in a matter of minutes while you stand there right in view so you can see what is being done and how! While I wasnt there to buy a new camera, the selection of Nikons seemed to be strongest but the used cameras and accessories selection seemed very impressive. There was even another used Pentax (K-r) for sale!In summary, you should definitely go here and support what appears to be the one of the last/best camera shops in Philly!
I got my sensor cleaned there and its by far the cheapest place I found in Philly. The guys there are super knowledgeable and they also have a great selection of gear and the prices are really good. Ill definitely be going back to them in the future. Also ig you take the train to get there, its only a few blocks from jefferson station aka the convention center.
The was my first experience with Webb Cam in Philadelphia, and my last. Even though big camera stores such as B&H, and Adorama in NY have competitive prices, and even offer free shipping, Im still one that enjoys going to a local camera store for new photography gear, or to search through their used gear. Since I still shoot film, I like to know local stores that I can go to, to buy 35mm, and 120 rolls of film at a moments notice. I also think its an invaluable resource to have a camera store near you that is knowledgeable, and allows you to pick their brains when needed. Im sorry to say, I cant say whether or not Webb Camera has that knowledgeable staff that allows their customers to pick their brain, and that’s simply because my first experience there was a terrible one, so I will never go back. This was the beginning of an email I had written to web camera to bring my terrible experience to their attention. I sent them an email first before posting a review in hopes of at least getting a response from them showing that they care at all about the customers that walk through their door. I sent them an email months ago, and no responce at all. I would post my entire terrible experience, but when I tried, it said I had exceeded the character limit. Thats how long my bad experaicne was here, and how many examples of terrible customer service I had recieved over the period of the two months it took from me to simply get a quote on the strobe they sent out for repair, and to get it back, and then once its all said and done, I send them an email stating my concerns, and why my experience was so terrible, and all I get is response are crickets. From the 4 plus years working for Apple, Ive learned that there are 2 kinds of customers that the store, the customers friends/family, and online reviews will hear from again after that first experience, when a customer has a bad experience, and when they have an amazing experience. When a customer has an amazing experience, and are treated well, they become a walking billboard. When a customer has terrible experience, they cant help but to recommend to everyone to NEVER shop at that store. From my terrible experience with Webb Cam, and then not even hearing back from them, I couldnt recommend enough for people not use Webb cam, or shop there.
They have a good selection of the latest digital gear, they always have some used digital AND film cameras in the case (Nikon, Canon, Olympus, more). They cost a bit more on some, not all items ( a few percent) than going online -- BUT this is in exchange for having a guy right in front of you that can say, Yes, this lens will autofocus with the Nikon 3100, that one wont but you can manual focus and still use it on your D90 too... and be right about it, unlike so many self-proclaimed shmexperts out there.Their price on film stock is great, and they carry a few of the more popular Domke bags too, which wins them points in my book.Do they glad hand you? No. Do they have sound advice and unpushy salespersons? Yes.A good, solid store.
I recently visited and I didnt felt welcome, I was looking for to upgrade my old camera but it was inconfortable because the personal was really rude and they give me faces for asking questions, I was looking for a body upgrade but they make me felt ashamed for having a rebel and not being so knowledgeable about photography word, but thats why we go to those places to Learn and maybe spend some bucks a new thing, but karma.!
GREAT !!!GREAT!!!!GREAT ,IN EVERYWAY ALWAYS THERE TO HELP,,THEY ARE A GREAT BACK UP!! HAVE KNOWN JOHN FOR DECADES IN PHOTOGRAPHICS AND TO SAY WITHOUT A DOUBT HE IS GREAT AND WITH HIS FATHER A GREATER TEAM,! HE ONLY HIRES THE BEST!AND THEY ARE THE BEST!! THEY WILL ALL TAKE CARE OF YOU!!
Small but interesting shop, it also keeps used cameras, even if the choice is not so rich. They perform repairs and keep professional material, tripods, sliders, lights, lastolite, and many other things. They are very competent and really very kind even with the occasional curious like me. Normal shop prices for the USA, certainly lower than in Italy.

2022-06-17Everyone there was kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. I took my newbie sister there and John the owner went out of his way to introduce her to film, film cameras, and camera operation. After an hour going over the basics she left with a great beginners film camera for a fantastic price.

2022-03-31John and his staff were extremely professional, sincere and very helpful in resolving my issue in a timely matter. I will definitely be purchasing, and visiting again. the two hour drive was well worth the effort. Highly recommend, and we should all support our local retailers.

2022-03-24If I could give more than five stars, I would. Evan helped me for about an hour, patiently answering all my questions and sharing his wealth of knowledge. He explained unfamiliar camera terms in ways that I could grasp, did not rush me, and let me try out various lenses to decide. He was exceptional.

2021-12-15Having visited and purchased at this gem of a shop twice in the past two years for lenses and a lesson, I knew Id return to upgrade and purchase a new camera. Every team member is knowledgeable, helpful, and respectful rather than pushy. Highly recommend.

2022-01-31I’ve been a customer at Webb Cam since 2017 but will now advise anyone looking for a local camera shop to go elsewhere. When I previously brought a lens in to be looked at, I watched it roll off a desk and it wasn’t addressed until I responded to an email questionnaire about my experience. They apologized and offered a half refund so I didnt hold it against them because they at least tried to make it right. In December of 2021 I brought a camera body in to be looked at because it wasn’t focusing correctly. The front of house staff was very kind and directed me to the “in-house expert,” the owner John. He initially told me it wasn’t working as expected because I accidentally turned on back-button focus (not an accident, that’s my preferred setting), then that my diopter was off (it wasn’t), and then that the lens I was using must be broken. After disproving each claim and insisting that the camera itself wasn’t focusing correctly, John reluctantly agreed to send the camera into Nikon.Nikon was not particularly helpful, which I don’t fault WebbCam for, but since WebbCam sent it in instead of me, I wasn’t able to communicate with Nikon. John didn’t check with me before requesting that my still-broken camera be sent back to me. Although I would have tried to escalate the issue further with Nikon, I ultimately would have paid to have it fixed because a camera that doesnt focus is useless to me. He tried to stop the delivery, but it had already been sent. I was charged and I now have to send it back in to be looked at again. I asked that John waive the shipping fee because ultimately his choices led me to have to send it in twice, rather than just once, but he refused. Please listen to other reviews recounting John’s dismissive attitude and go elsewhere. Ive been a full-time photographer for over six years and dont appreciate being spoken to like a child at every turn. I expect him to respond to this review pointing the finger at Nikon, but please hear that my chief grievance was with the way he interacted with me personally when I first came into the shop.

2021-11-23Solid service from John and the Webbcam crew! They were able to describe the issue with my camera and had my Nikon Z50 sent off for repair. Got it back, good as new. Great care and very dependable!

2021-10-29Rude service. Not trustworthy. Lied to on multiple occasions of when my camera was being fixed.Camera was shipped to Nikon to fix sensor. Sensor got fixed but screen cracked in transit. They said they they shipped it back to Nikon to fix screen. Was told one day that the part was shipping out from Nikon. When I called the next week, they told me the part was delayed again. When I called the next day, they told me Nikon has the whole camera, not just the part. Then I called Nikon for information and they said they didnt have a record, either time.
