Great local fish store. They are one of, if not THE highest quality fish location in the south hills area. They carry loads of speciality supplies and equipment as well as a beautifully maintained live fish section. They also carry a nice selection of aquarium to rock and drift wood. I purchased a driftwood piece which ended up working out very well in my portrait aquarium as well as 2 nerite snails.Unfortunately the prices on their supplies are in my opinion a bit high but it’s expected with a smaller chain like wet pets and there were some rough looking fresh water plants, but overall a very nice experience.
One of the best fish stores I have ever been too. If youre familiar with Elmers in Monroeville, this store is in the same league. The staff were very friendly and they answered our many many questions we had and they never once acted like we were inconveniencing them. The fish selection is excellent, including a lot of varieties that are harder to find. The quality of fish are also excellent. All the tanks were immaculate and most of the fish looked really healthy. The prices were fair, especially considering the quality of the fish and the care that obviously goes into them. The only downside of the store is the aisles are a little bit narrow. Thankfully when I went there werent many customers in the store so I could look around without any trouble but I can easily imagine how much fun it wouldnt be to browse when theyre busy.Overall would recommend this fish store to anyone and Ill definitely be shopping there again.
I absolutely LOVE this store for their beautiful variety of saltwater and freshwater fish. The tanks are so clean, the fish are incredibly healthy and they are all of a decent size. The store itself is clean and it has other pet needs as well. The crowning jewel of this establishment from the people I met are Frank and Doc. Doc actually was why I used to go to Elmers. He has so much knowledge about the fish he helps to care for. He helps his customers make good choices about who to add to the tank, etc. He is a great guy. Frank was also very knowledgeable and also a great human. Both gentlemen were extremely kind and caring humans who talk to you like a person, not just another customer to shove out of the store. I will make sure I attend when these two are there. The other employees that I briefly met were also very welcoming and kind. All in all, this is my go to aquaria shoppe. Also of note, they have actual fish medication (my main reason for going) that all the Petsmarts and Petcos, Aqua World, etc. dont have. I spent over an hour and a half here with two young kids..... so that is saying something. :-)
I took my daughter to 2 different pet stores that I knew dealt in saltwater fish this weekend. My experiences contrasted greatly and Wet Pets was the best experience. The store was clean an organized. The fish tanks were well kept, the fish looked health and active, and the selection was diverse. Their saltwater display tank was fairly large, had several very large coral species and, again, was clean and well cared for. Several staff asked if we needed help; I politely declined and did not feel pestered. I do believe they will be my store of choice to stock my tank once established. I do wish they had a better selection of corals and saltwater accessories. They did not seem to carry any high-end reefing equipment (i.e. Ecotech Marine, Kessil, Triton, etc.) and protein skimmers but I did not ask. The had a good aquarium selection but all Aqueon brand. They had a good selection of frozen food at reasonable prices.Update 4/2022: not much has changed. Saltwater tanks have started to show more dinoflagellates and hair algae. Most of the saltwater fish selection is geared toward fish only tanks.
We love this store! We bought our beardy from here. All of the pets here are in clean healthy environments. The aquariums are amazing just to walk through. They have every regular fish owners beginning, a salty tanks aquatic dreams, and a new small animal owners true excitement. From hamsters and mice, bunnies and Guinea pigs, and reptiles, pond fish, and tarantulas they have a grand variety. Matt and Wyatt were both amazing guys who gave great ideas and advice. They have also expressed any concern or questions for us to feel free to stop by and the staff would be glad to help. Thanks Wet Pets for our beardy and supplies and hiring amazing employees!
Bought fish for my saltwater tank and other items we’re extremely happy with there help. They are extremely knowledgeable and didn’t try to oversell me like other stores have. My clowns are doing better than any fish I’ve ever boughten for saltwater or fresh they may have been 10 dollars more than a competitor but worth every penny. This is now the only store I will ever go to for my aquarium needs even though it’s an hour and a half drive was well worth it!
I cant explain how amazing and clean this place is. You have to see it for your self. Ive never came upon a pet shop/store. So clean the tanks are crystal clear and store it self doesnt even have a animal smell I was so amazed. We will definitely be going back. This is thee best store Ive ever been to. Was so worth the hr an half drive.
Great family owned pet shop. Large selection of fresh and saltwater fish. As a person who very much so enjoys the aquarium I found Wet Pets and Friends to be extremely enjoyable. The employees are all very helpful, polite and knowledgeable. Will definitely be back again
Hands down the best pet store I have been too in my life. Extremely knowledgeable staff, beautiful animals, clean tanks and enclosures, a great selection of animals and equipment. I have purchased all of my saltwater stuff to date from Wet Pets. I simply will not go anywhere else. Thanks for all of your help!
Wet pets is one of the best fish stores in the area. Good stores and great stores are separated by 3 factors: quarantining, variety, and attentiveness from staff. Wet pets has all 3.While I was there, I was rehoming one of my favorite fish. This was handled professionally and without issue. It was taken to the back, presumably to be quarantined before being put out on the floor. The show room floor had everything that a good fish keeper wants: freshwater, saltwater, pond supplies, micro fish, monster sized beauties, invertebrates, plants of all varieties, coral of all varieties. The staff frequently asked if I would need help with anything, but also gave me plenty of space to look around.A+ rating from me.
I purchase most of my aquarium rocks and wood from these guys, many of my fish come from here as well. The staff is very helpful and friendly. My wife and I have really gotten to know them over time and they really go out of their way to help in any way that they can rather than just pushing sales or forcing purchases. They have a huge variety of marine and fresh water fish as well as hamsters rabbits birds chinchillas even lizards as well as ponds. They do tank setups and maintenance, they even do pond installs.
Traveled 2 hours to purchase a blue phantom pleco. Store employee picked fish up by his fin and held him above water over a minute to show him off. I felt that was wrong but he said it was perfectly okay. Had this $100 fish less then 48 hours. Told it has to be my water. No refund or exchange is allowed. I have an established tank, according to my research and two enthusiasts who have done this more then 50 yrs, touching the fish is the most likely cause considering everything water wise tests fine and all my other fish are perfectly healthy.
Needed help setting up a new fish tank. We worked with Jared. He was outstanding. Aside from his professional knowledge, he’s just an all around nice guy. He listened and provided perfect recommendations. Thanks, Jared! We will definitely be back for more fish in the coming weeks!
I would definitely recommend Wet Pets for all fish tank lovers! Ron and Doc have helped us on many occasions and both go above and beyond with our many visits and phone calls. They have taught us practically everything we know about keeping a healthy tank and our fishies are very grateful!
This place is amazing! The store was super clean and had a great selection. There were a ton of species of fish and they all looked super healthy and active.Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Doc helped us for probably 2 hours and answered every question we had and more. He walked us through some good options of fish and listened to our set up and suggested ways to improve it.Weve been trying to find the perfect fish store and this one passed every expectation we had. Cant wait to be back.
Found this store online by chance. They had a Abyssinian Guinea Pig, which is what my daughter was trying find. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The younger gentlemen (maybe Daniel?) with long hair took the time to explain to a 8 year old and 3 year old how to take care of Guinea Pig. Their prices were cheaper than other large scale stores and the people working were personable. Will definitely return.
I went to this store to buy a cockatiel. The store itself is clean and laid out nicely. The birds seemed to be happy and cared for. The associate that “helped” us was quite rude. He had made several comments that were rude and uncalled for while we were there. He kept attempting to talk us out of buying a cockatiel and into buying a conure simply because that was his preference. He kept this up even after I said that I couldn’t afford a $1,000 bird, even if I did want one. Which is my second issue with this store. It is WAY over priced. The cockatiel was $369. Which is more than any of the other pet stores in the area. The cage that I purchased there was $74 and poorly made. We had to use zip ties to secure the bottom to the cage itself so it wouldn’t fall apart. Had I been able to find a cockatiel closer than 4 hours away I would have taken my business elsewhere. Hopefully nothing is wrong that isn’t immediately evident with the bird I purchased because they also don’t offer any type of guarantee on their birds.except a “visual” whatever that means. If I hadn’t been looking for a cockatiel as long as I had been I would have just left. That being said, I won’t go back.
I would have to give this a 5 star rating because I’ve gotten all my pets here (my fish my 2 guinea pigs and my hamster who passed away). The hamster who passed away lived till the live time I was told on the internet(he was 2) I got my 2 guinea pigs and even though they might be pricy they come from some good workers! All of the fish containers with the bettas were very nice and clean and they made sure to make sure I had everything for the fish already before I purchased it! Overall 10/10!
Great selection of aquatic supplies. The staff was awesome. We were interested in starting my 7 yr old daughter with a new tank. The staff took their time explaining everything. They talked to her about what kind of fish she wanted and really listened to her feedback.
Its a nice store and most of the fish are healthy but the prices are pretty crazy depending on what your looking for. A 6 inch clown loach was 190. A 12 inch ornate poly was 350. The smaller bread and butter fish were priced normally but anything semi out of the ordinary are just over priced.
My family and I love Wetpets! Often times we will go in just to fishwatch or visit the pond area. My daughter asks to visit Peaches (the Cockatoo) everytime were in the area. We have a 20gal and 30gal freshwater tank and have used Wetpets to stock them, as well as maintain them. The staff is knowledgeable and always willing to help figure out what to put in your community tank.
Very nice place tun of fish to look at. Now I only went there to check the place out. I did not buy fish from there. However I would definitely go back to buy some. Staff was very nice and approached very professionaly. I did order crickets and my bearded dragon loved them.
I went to wet pets and friends looking to start a saltwater tank. I have no experience with salt water fish at all. When I was at the store, a gentleman by the name of Frank helped me out. He provided me with a lot of the information needed to start the tank. He was very informative and steered me in the right direction. The staff at the store is very knowledgeable and willing to help! I will certainly be back to buy fish when my tank is ready!
Overrated, overpriced, underfeed fish, horrible coral selection. I have been a fish keeper for over 35 years, so Ive seen a thing or two.I visited this place today, and I wish that i hadnt. First off, I saw so many starving fish. Seriously they had multiple yellow tangs that were days away from starving to death. Second of all their saltwater fish prices are insanely overpriced. All of the coral they had for sale looked worse than what youd see at Petco, I was blow away with how brow, and unhealthy all of the corals were. The worker told me that all of the marine fish are quarantined before being out on display, then in the next sentence he told me that the 2 bullet hole clowns I liked just arrived 2 days ago. So,,,, how did they go through a quarantine if they just arrived 2 days ago?? They didnt!!!I gave this place 2 stars only because they had some birds that actually did look healthy. Maybe they should stop dealing in fish, and devote 100% of their efforts to birds. I will never return here, and I definitely do t recommend buying any fish from here.UPDATED review,Well today I was in a situation where I had no other choice but to buy something that I needed from Wet Pets. OMG the prices are INSANE at this store. They are marking things up like crazy, for instance they had a 300 GPH submersible pump for $79.99 (Quiet One 1200) that pump sells for under $30.00 at Bulk Reef Supply and they usually have a higher price than most stores. I hated handing money to the guy at Wet Pets, but I had to get this certain thing. Hopefully I NEVER have to buy any from them in the future.
Without a doubt the best pet store I’ve been in! Everyone is so knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of times I just go there just to walk around. They have an incomparable selection of fish. It’s a completely different experience at Wet Pets. I recommend them to everyone 👌🏻
Great selection of fish. Staff can be less than helpful, and most have attitudes. I had purchased fish here on 3 different occasions, for 3 separate tanks. Ended up getting ICK in each tank after the last 2 purchases. My tanks have been running for many years, and have not added fish for 8 months. Yet the insist this was not from their fish. Rest assured it wont be their fish effecting my tanks any more!
Most incredible fish store around. These people love and care about what they do. Every tank in this place looks to be in perfect health. Not only is it extremely beautiful place but so are the employees. Expert advice and happy to turn down a sale because of illnesses or over stocking. They seem genuinely concerned about the status of your own tank. If you havent been here its definitely worth the trip!
Very good shop! I’ve been coming here for the past 7 years for my 90 gallon freshwater tank always have something good in stock. I also have a reef tank and their saltwater selection is good lots of cool fish for all size tanks. The only thing is I’d like to see a little better higher end and rare coral selection mainly some nicer sps. I would recommend Wet Pets to anyone who is looking for the best store this is it! I always have people asking where I get all these beautiful fish and I say Wet Pets!!!
Love the store great employees large selection of salt water fish didn’t get to salt water yet kinda scared and now that I visited here I think I wouldn’t ever go salt water every fish here is massively expensive I really don’t know the prices of salt water fish because I don’t look to buy them I see them and they look cool usually 60 and above they had eels for 900$ catfish 150 arowana 300$ I mean the fresh water fish is kinda high if you want them big salt water fish is outrageously priced thou I understand they have to survive and all but these fish online aren’t even 50% of the price bought a arowana died a couple days later couldn’t have been my water because my other fish 3 that I had bought lived I just don’t understand charging your fellow American/any person triple the price of the product I love fish they had birch there for 25$ petco 7$ And petco offers money back or atleast to swap the fish out of it dies so just pay attention to any store you want to get a fish from if the fish are dead in other tanks be careful on spending 350$ on a flower horn and if he dies a day later your just out on your fish friend and your cash! Most of the cool fish they have says not for sale
Great selection of aquatic pets. Ive come here the past 3 years and the tanks are always pristine. The salesmen know their stuff and wont try to sell you a fish if your tank cant handle it. They do sell birds/reptiles/rodents, but for sure their main specialty is fish. As expected the price for dosing items or aquarim hardware is not on par with online. Youre gonna pay more having the item in hand. That being said, their fish prices are very reasonable. I always feel confident coming here. They also run sales where you can get aquarium decor for cheap. On top of all that they have a couple large parrots you can interact with that might just make your day (not for sale).
What a lovely, well-stocked store! The staff at Wet Pets and Friends is incredibly friendly and helpful, and there are so many salt and fresh water fish and even a few other animals like birds, tarantulas, lizards, hamsters, and guinea pigs. The store is clean, the animals are cared for very well, and it’s the go-to place for all things fish-related!
This fish store has more healthy fish than Ive ever seen in a store before in my life they have a wide variety of fresh and saltwater fish plus reptiles. And everything you could possibly need to take care of your pets. They also have excellent help available for any questions that you might have. Very knowledgeable staff and owners!
Ive been going her for a few years for my freshwater tank and I would never buy fish and supplies elsewhere. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. There is a great selection of aquarium plants and fish, both fresh and salt water. It beats out national pet chains hands down. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait to get the attention of the staff, but once you do, they are more than happy to help.
This is the best store! The people who work at Wet Pets care about the health of the fish and aquatic life they sell. They take as much time as you need to give advice if you want it. Prices are fair. I dont go to my local pet store anymore because I prefer the knowledgeable and friendly staff and great fish from Wet Pets!!
I love this place. My wife and I live out of state but visit family near this store and it is a tradition to go here to look at the fish. The tanks are exceptionally clean and the variety of fish is incredible. They breed their own discus and I think angles as well. They also have a beautiful assortment of saltwater tanks and several rare fish. Overall one of the best lfs I have ever seen. They also carry small animals such as rabbits, birds, hamsters, geribles, and more. Definitely worth stopping by just to browse.
I stopped by the other day since I was in the area and I heard that they had reptiles. Ive never been anywhere that expected $100 for common bearded dragons. Moving on from them, I noticed that the geckos werent looking so hot; also overpriced at $100. I began to suspect that one of them were dead, so I asked to see it. I was told that he was up and alive, as well as given fresh food and water earlier that day, but the food dish was visibly caked in brown gunk with no signs of food in sight. What interaction I had with the staff was also negative; the woman who was working the register was just awkward and awful at human interaction. The one guy I spoke with had to apologize for a dead reptile.I think they should get rid of everything other than their fish and focus on what they seem to know a bit about. Judging by the 4 to 5 star reviews from people being about their experience while shopping for fish. The highlight of our visit was the cockatoo in the front. After the bad experience I had in there, she was definitely something positive I can take away from it.Everything is overpriced and any chances of me ever buying anything from them went out the window after a few minutes of browsing. Shame.
Great pets store, hands down the most beautiful display of fish in the area. Ive gotten various fish and plants there for smaller planted tanks and they were always super healthy, strong and very nice looking. Also some of the best looking koi you will find in the area.
I have shopped there 4 times, I was so excited to finally get to this store. I think the aquarium display is beautiful, everything I expected from some of the reviews I have read. Very helpful aquarium staff. I am giving them a 3 star mark because every single time that I visited and went to the check out their cashier lady ( long brown hair ) was very abrasive and rude, seemed as though I was bothering her by wanting to purchase the items I bought. Not very friendly like the rest of the staff. The first time I thought she must have had a bad day the 2nd time I stopped I realized that is just how she is = rude. She handled the bagged fish that I was purchasing as though they were not alive, very rough. I went 2 more times hoping she wasnt the one checking me out at the counter. They need to have a talk with her and give her a class on customer service. She ruined my experience of the store.
We went looking to add some fish to our frog tank only to find a baby frog being eaten by a big fish. Saved the little dude and bought him. Got him home and tried nursing him along but apparently the trauma was too much and he died 2 days later. The employees were all very helpful. Just becareful what you buy
Their prices are much more expensive than other retailers. They told me that every saltwater fish tank has ich and just add an expensive UV sterlizer. Ich is a parasite, if you dont buy fish that are infected or treat them prior to putting them in your tank then no your tank does not have ich. I will say that they do have some nice looking larger size fish. The coral selection is pretty dismal and severely over priced.
The store was well organized and very clean. The fish tanks couldnt have looked better. The animals seemed well taken care of and very healthy. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful without being pushy. Best pet store experience Ive ever had. Never going back to Petco again.
The good/ The staff is friendly and helpful. The freshwater fish selection is great. Plenty of good quality product in the store for sale. The bad/ The salt water fish selection is not much, and the tanks show their neglect with many dead fish in the tanks and just dirty in general. I know salt can be allot of maintenance but you sell fish make it pretty and appealing. I wish the care they have for their prized discus went into their other fish as well. I will give them the discus they have are some of the best I have ever seen. But unfortunately after a recent visit/purchase (a $300 purchase) i will no longer give them my business and will likely make the trek to Monroeville to the always awesome Elmers.
I was in the store with my boyfriend and we were looking to buy more supplies for our fish tank. As we were looking at some other fish the older gentleman in the store had approached us in a high toned voice telling us to NOT put our fingers near the glass. He had not said it politely. Then as we continued to look at fish he asked if we needed help. After replying no thank you, he continued to stand there and tell us all we were going to do was stand there and HARASS the fish. We left after he continued to mumble under his breath comments to us.
WOW, this is a top of the line place to buy your fish! I was extremely impressed with the very friendly, knowledgable employees and well cared for fish. I am very picky about the health of the fish that I am going to bring home and wouldnt even hesitate to buy here. If its healthy in the store and you take it home (after doing your homework!) and your water is good (and you didnt freeze or cook your fish on the way home!)then your fish bought here will live a long time!
Hi I love this pet store it is one of the best pet stores I’ve ever walked into! However it is Sunday and they are swamped I understand but Susan answered the phone and couldn’t even take a message for one of the guys to call me back. I have a baby so running in to ask the question is just too hard sometimes. I have a small crack in my very big fish tank and before it comes down I wanted to know if someone could come take a look at it. I felt very blown off and have NEVER Felt like that in this store. So either Susan was having a bad day or needs to learn customer service.
This place is a joke, the fish are quality as well as selection however they are by far overpriced on fish and equipment. The management is family the sons are nice and helpful but the mom and dad that run the shop well they are down right ignorant. A couple of their employees that have worked there for a long time think they are somebody and do absolutely nothing but talk about people while making part time people run around doing everything until the family come in then act like they are the hardest working employee they have..... If you go here ask for Andrew he is by far the most knowledgeable and kind.
Lots of salt water and fresh water fish. Live rock for salt water. A nice plant tank usually has a wide selection of freshwater plants . Other pets like Birds big and small and some furry like bunny and hamsters. Outside in warm weather there are pond fish and supplies. Sometimes brackish fish like green spot puffer. Large selection of hardscape like rocks and driftwood. Good for angel fish(some store bred)and discus. Friendly Knowledgeable staff very helpful if your having problems or have questions.
Love this store, incrdible fish selection, they have 3 big birds that live there, Peaches is our favorite always talking and making sounds with us and the kids! Their staff is so nice and helpful. It is finally a pet store with unique animals and fish and their fish pond in spring is an added bonus! We stop in everytime we are in town whether we need to or just to see all the neat animals!
The best tropical fish store, both fresh water and salt water, in the tri-state area. The staff members are passionate about the hobby and are a wealth of information. Even if you dont own an aquarium, you owe it to yourself to just stop by and look at the variety of fish and accessories. Youll be amazed.
Ill start off with the selection of fish... its ridiculous, in a good way! Sooooo much to choose from! All the aquariums are clean, no dead fish floating around. Ive been to a number of fish stores from Youngstown Ohio, Salem Ohio, to around Pittsburgh to closer to erie pa. And Ill tell you, this is one of my go to places. The cost on SOME of the fish are a little more than normally, however, by what Ive experienced so far, you get what you pay for. That being said, i dont mind the slightly extra cost on some of the fish. Staff are knowledgeable, and me being someone that knows a thing or 2 about fish can say Ive picked a brain or 2 during my visits. My only complaint? Is that i dont live closer!
I would like to thank the Wet Pets team for finally convincing me to do my fish shopping online. When purchasing a fish I do not need to go through the Spanish Inquisition to be able to spend my money on a fish. Not to mention if the fish does die it is a slim chance that it would qualify for a partial refund anyway.
Extremely professional. We recently got my toddler a fish tank for her birthday. Today we visited Wet Pets to get her fish. ALL the staff members we encountered were very professional, knowledgable and very helpful. I will most definitely be returning here for all my fish tank needs.
USED to be a great store, but now is way over priced and the people they are hiring are awful. Lost $135 in fish over awful advice from this store. When owners were involved this was the best store, but no longer. You may get lucky with 1-2 people who know their stuff, but not worth the risk or the price.
Beautiful selection and displays. Very clean and organized. I purchased 10 shrimp and 8 endlers/guppies (had 4 already) for my nano tank (around Thanksgiving) as well as a few plants. While Ive had no issues with this tank, fish, or plants for over a year - today, I have only 1 original (not purchased at WetPets) endler left and 1 shrimp. The entire assortment came infected with something and has died. My husband returned within 24 hrs with a dead blue shrimp and I should have suspected the issues would continue. We do not live close and it was an inconvenience to consider running out every other day as they continued to die. Very disappointed.
THESE GUYS ARE THE BEST!!! They are all so helpful and kind... and very professional. They were all kind enough to take an enormous amount of their time to help guide me along with my sick black moor....I LOVE THIS PLACE AND EVERYONE WHO WORKS HERE!! Thank you all SO much!!❤️❤️❤️👍🏼‼️
This is a really nice store with knowledgeable and helpful staff, however, their prices for a lot of things are extravagant. I went in for a product, that’s 19.99 online and saw it for 29.99. Needless to say, I didn’t purchase it. I’m all for supporting local business and paying a little more, but that’s obnoxious - especially for an item you’re very likely buying 3 or 4 of. I know of a lot of people in the hobby who won’t shop there due to prices.
I bought two newts from Wet Pets, and they both died within 12 hours. I went back to get 2 new ones (they were willing to replace the newts) and the same thing happened. I returned once again, after having done more research and realized just how bad the conditions in the tank were. The newts were being kept in the same tank with vampire crabs, who were clearly hurting them, since many newts had open sores. Additionally, newts need a temperature in the low to mid 60s (F), or else they get infections and other sicknesses. The tank was at over 80 degrees. I talked to one of the workers about this, and he told me I was wrong about the temperature. He said hes heard that from a lot of people but actually they should be kept at warmer temperatures. I passed on any more newts there, however I needed to buy live food for the older newt I had at home. When checking out I noticed a chart sitting on the checkout counter listing proper temperatures for many of the animals sold at Wet Pets. Right on that chart it said 65 degrees for newts!!!!!The bottom line is that I will never go there again after this whole thing. I do admit that the aquarium display is very impressive. I do not have any fish from this store, but I would warn everyone to be cautious and to check the conditions of the tank. They seem to know fish very well, but not much about the other animals they sell.
Ive been driving over an hour to get fish from these guys for years. Tank health seems to be a HUGE priority for this store. Better than any other pet store I have ever encountered. I IWSH there was a store closer that could compare as it would save me driving an hour away for a fish but when you think about the time you put into your tank, getting it sick isnt something you want to take into consideration and its worth the drive and extra cost for the fish they sell. To address the people on here saying that their fish died within a few days my guess is there are a LOT of variables that are needed to be met in fish keeping. Water quality, consistency, adjusting to your settings. There is a wealth of info on fish care that makes the hobby a life long learning curve. If you are first starting out and think you can throw a discus in a 10 gallon tank with hard water and drop it in rather than drip acclimate it IT MIGHT VERY WELL DIE in three days at your house. If your tank is BRAND new and hasnt cycled your fish VERY WELL MIGHT DIE in your tank at your house. Just saying my experience with Wet Pets is that they have the absolute healthiest tanks I have ever seen and Ill stand by that when I buy fish from there they leave there healthy.
Hands down the best selection around! Very friendly and helpful staff!AquaticsThey have the largest selection of fish I have ever seen. Tons of fresh and saltwater varieties to choose from, and all of the tanks are clean and all of the fish are healthy. I have yet to see a dead fish in one of their tanks, and I have never seen one with any obvious illness. Huge aquarium selection, medications, decorations and test kits. Some fish are slightly over priced but still within a very reasonable range! They do carry frozen fish foods which I have had trouble finding elsewhere.Small animalWhile they do have a huge selection of fish, they do not have a huge selection of small animals. They have a kitten room, and one 4 sectional small animal cage. Their small animals were also in very good health. Have small animal supplies such as treats and food and cages.ReptileThere is a wall of reptile and spider tanks. All very clean and the animals were healthy. They have tank decorations and bowls for reptiles, not to mention tanks. I am not a reptile owner, so I did not really pay attention to the selection of heaters or humidifiers. I dont think they had as much selection food wise as a big chain like Petco.BirdsWhen I was last there, they offered hand fed youngsters in the larger birds (cockatiel, sun conure), and parakeets. I was impressed by the cleanliness of the cages and how they didnt crowd in their parakeets like some stores. I did notice they carried bird cages, but did not look for much else.
They build ponds , water falls, One of the largest selections of fish in the tri-state area, And some of the most beautiful tank raised Discus I have ever seen, Large indoor koi pond and small animals, reptiles and birds everything clean and employees very knowledgeable and Large selection of saltwater fish too. Beautiful store.
I love Wet Pets!!!! It’s not a massive store but the amount of pets they have is MASSIVE! I’ve seen sharks, star fish, sea horses, thousands of fish, awesome parrots from conjures and cockatiels to love birds and parakeets to macaws. They have turtles, chinchillas, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and kittens! Again, this place is dope.
They have puffer fish! My favorite, I want some so bad. Quite a good selection but not as much as it had several years ago but still worth checking out. They also have large and small birds and some reptiles. Someone needs to squish that tarantula though, its my only dislike.
Used to care about customers.Went there with intentions of buying food, equipment, fish and to give my significant other ideas for her tank. However when pointing to fry in thier overpriced plant display tank an employee decided that I was child and loudly and embarrassingly told me to stop touching the water . I obviously wasnt touching the water. He was rude when I said I wasnt and when I pointed out I was 5+year customer he just scoffed. They dont care anymore, thier prices and attidue now refrlect that. Ill buy plants from dustinsfishtanks from now on and will trek outside my town to go to aquaworld from now on.
Imagine a pet shop with beautiful, healthy animals, endless supplies, and the most knowledgeable and courteous staff and youre at Wet Pets And Friends. Im super particular when it comes to my pets, and Ive come to learn that this is truly the best place to not only purchase supplies/toys for them, but also to purchase a new animal. Endless stars for the owners and staff~
Wet Pets is now the only place I shop 4 my aquatic needs i use to primarily shop online for supplies but the people there are very knowledgeable and dedicated to what they do ...and they actually care. So I dont mind spending a dollar more here or there because to keep businesses like this one around so that you do have thair expertise when you need it its a small price to pay for a huge reward
Decent store if you came to look. 90% of anything that looks good is display only. Good luck getting assistance from anyone about your issue. They would rather tell you everything your doing is wrong do this instead. There ability to answer the phone is worse then my 3 year old daughters. I hate being hung up on especially when I have yet to say anything. The little information they do give you can easily be sourced from Google with a simple description of the subject. I dont know why they have such high reviews unless your a window shopper with no care about what your looking at, go anywhere else.
Prices on the birds are at least double from last year (cockatiels were at most $150 and conures were $300). The price for a conure now is $800 and a canary is $169. It’s the animals that suffer because they are not going to be adopted. They want to be loved and need love. Shouldn’t they be the first priority instead of filling your pockets with money? You also raised the prices for other services you do- what does that say about you? Caring about and making the animals happy needs to be your priority. Also you should give out printed information about everything a new family needs to know (including what is harmful) so adjustments can be made. Nobody can just figure it out or do research. You need to tell them (and put it in writing because people don’t remember).
While I really enjoy visiting this store and the fish selection is unique and nice when you get to the checkout more often than not the lady with long dark hair who often answers the phone (I recognize her voice) has a horrible attitude and tends to be outright rude never ever smiling or even trying to be polite or carry on a conversation and even makes rude remarks. One time a few months ago we won a prize from a drawing and when I went to pick it up her response to me winning was oh thank goodness we got this out of here.(She called me the day before to tell me I won thats when the drawing was so wasnt like it sat there at all!! Really!! No congrats or thanks for entering or even a have a nice day.Just saying the overall experience at the store is nice and enjoyable most of the time but the checkout is very cold and miserable.
Bought 3 somewhat expensive fish from there, 30$ each fish , 2 of the fish I bought got sick and died within 2 weeks, and got the fish i already had sick. I called them to see if they could help with possibly replacing the fish and they told me theres nothing we can do. So there goes 60 dollars worth of fish and they could care less. I should have never bought fish from there and never will again.

2022-05-25So where do I even begin?! I cant say ENOUGH GREAT THINGS about Wet Pets! All of the staff here are EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE, and some of the FRIENDLIEST people Ive ever come across at a pet store! Its also the CLEANEST pet store Ive been to! Theres always people cleaning out the tanks, as well as cleaning the cages of all the land animals! You can TELL that ALL of the animals here are cared for and healthy! (Happy too!) I purchased SEVERAL plants here as well, and they are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and HEALTHY! They have BEST selection of ANYTHING aquatic, and I think that their prices are VERY REASONABLE! Way less than any local Pittsburgh pet stores! Again... Such a GREAT PLACE to go, even just to look around. My 4yr old daughter actually asked to come here for her birthday! If you live far away like I do & are contemplating coming here, I can PROMISE YOU ITS WORTH THE TRIP!! Love you Wet Pets!

2022-05-24Super helpful staff, large variety of products. Will definitely come again for all my fish needs. They have a selection of tanks, substrate, ornamentals, as well as both freshwater and exotic saltwater pets. Their aqutic plants are also decently priced.

2021-09-09Incredibly clean and well put together store. I stopped in at lunch and was completely surprised by how nice the store was. Display tanks were kept clean free of hard water spots. The filtration system is quiet. The staff were helpful and friendly. I was very impressed. Will be back.

2022-01-14This leopard gecko is priced now at $99.99 this snakes eye leopard gecko is beyond under weight for its age, it came from a bad breeder. To where the gecko has an under bite, deformities. A dropped tail that’ll never come in proper. And the best they could do was $75 ?? They don’t give their reptiles the proper diet nor do they get their reptiles from a good breeder. They put money above their reptiles, if I could give a negative review I would. They can’t even mist the gecko properly because it has stuck shed on its toes, it’ll most likely lose its toes due to shedding. They couldn’t care about the health, bad business. Even talked to Pat. She knows and doesn’t care about a deformed abused gecko. Hope this doesn’t get deleted.

2021-08-22This is an amazing place! Make sure you have at least a hour to look around because you won’t see tanks and fish like that anywhere else in Pennsylvania. They have a large pond area with koi, goldfish, water lilies, water lettuce and anything you would need for a pond. Every fish I bought survived due to the expertise of the staff. At no point did I feel rushed or pushed into buying something. I highly recommend these guys.
