My husband had two separate surgeries for retinal detachment, and Dr. Cohen was excellent. The first surgery used a gas bubble to hold the tear in place for surgery, and after the gas bubble started to dwindle, the retina became weak beside the original area. This time a buckle, and oil bubble were placed to ensure it doesn’t happen again. The front office staff coming into the waiting area were all helpful, and pleasant through our four and a half hour stay here. After four hours of waiting, I did receive automated texts for update, however nothing specific, and as such I became concerned at the extended amount of time…Was there something wrong with my husband? He has sensitivity to anesthesia, and I became concerned that he was having difficulty waking, as this has happened in the past. I walked to the recovery room door, and knocked. I met one very rude thin Caucasian young lady with glasses, and hair pulled back who yelled at me as I “was not supposed to be in there.” Mind you, she let me in. I told her of my concern, and asked if my husband had been given anesthesia today. I had no idea of knowing what was going on, and she told me “she didn’t know, and his nurse can tell you that.” Previously she was talking on her personal phone, and joking with a man standing inside. Meanwhile I received a phone call with instructions from someone. Another nurse coming on shift finally came out with my husband. He told me he asked for me to come back several times, and each time they told him no. Sometimes it’s better to be human, and have care about patient concerns. It is a frightening thing to lose your vision as it is, and then have to feel threatened because you asked about the welfare of your spouse. Being kind costs nothing.

This is a good place for the specialist that are needed, but when you have 30 people crammed into a small waiting room and your appt was an hour and ½ ago and your still waiting, that kinda minimizes the work that is done. The front girl also has such a BLAH attitude, that just makes it more frustrating and dull.

- Call the first time, the lady of the call center hang up in the middle of nowhere.- Call the second time, the lady booked me with the appointment on Saturday, and I asked multiple times to confirm, are you sure you guys open on Saturday, Dec 11, and she confirmed yes. But, when I arrived, of course, no one was there, and the office closed too.- Call the third time today. After more than a half-hour wait, finally, I could meet someone. But, Jesus. The lady again, and she said the office close, call back tomorrow after 8 am, and hang up without a breath. And it was around 3:40, and they closed at 4:30.Great! I guess the lady I have mentioned is the same person. And with that attitude of an employee who is supposed to be the front welcome for the clinic. Good luck with your business!

Very disrespectful to my family who drove over 3 hours to see the doctor. It is disheartening the staff that work here feel a huge power trip to the point where you demean people with disabilities. The doctor needs to reassess who they hire to support the patients. It is truly unacceptable. I am very sad that some of these patients dont have any other places to go. If you are considering bringing a loved one here, please do not. I do not recommend this practice at all.

After reading the reviews here I was really worried about going to Wills Eye but decided to take a shot. I was very happy with the care I was given. The wait time was very reasonable and the waiting room was fine. The administration seemed a little unorganized but everything worked out and everyone was very friendly and helpful.

I drive from NJ to Philly just to see a cornea specialist here. They know what they are doing. Ive seen many doctors during my recovery process after a 2nd degree chemical and great burn to my eye. The staff had y always been courteous and accommodating, took me initially within a reasonable time frame for how busy Im sure they are. Doctor answers all of my questions and explains everything well. And i feel like Im finally on a path that is working which Im so grateful for with all of the issues Ive experienced from my loss of vision (like difficulty driving, working, pain in my ey, etc.) You dont know a good doctor until youve experienced am emergency and this is a great place to go to.

I normally dont write reviews. But after seeing a few doctors at Wills Eye in the past a few years, I feel it deserves one. Overall experience is bad - the doctors here are inpatient and tell you random things without listening to your needs. I am willing to be referred to other doctors if the questions I asked dont fall under your specialty. Just dont rush me to leave and avoid answering directly to my concerns. The sense that doctors here just want to go through the act of seeing patients & collect the bill, without showing even a hint of sincere care to patients concerns doesnt sit well in me. Too bad Wills Eye is the biggest eye hospital in the area. I dont know where else I should go now.

FIRST OFF: I was IMMENSLEY scared to come here based off the horrific reviews left before me. BUT my daughters Ophthalmologist, recommended a Dr. here, so I focused on just that....the Dr. and not the staff.Date of Visit: 5/3/2022Total time There: 1.45- 2 hrs hrs (thats fast to me, not bad at all)Experience w/ Front Staff: Thankfully Great! I was greeted by three front office workers. Their demeanor was pleasant and helpful. I could tell they all had smiles on their faces, even under the masks. This was my first time here, and they made me feel welcomed and gave me step-by-step instructions.Experience w/ Resident Asst. She was also pleasant and gave instructions, with a calm tone, as the next steps approached.Experience w/ Dr. Dunn: Dr. Dunn was professional, thorough, and even tried to make a few jokes to the patient (my daughter), to help ease what nervousness she may have had...but his jokes went over my daughters head lol...due to her being nervous and tired lol. Overall, I was very pleased with Dr. Dunn and will trust his knowledge and expertise. He made sure I understood all of the big words, and what they meant in relation to my daughters eye issue.Parking: I hated parking in the garage lol. Will catch SEPTA next visit for our follow-up. Parking is EXPENSIVE!! I paid $35 for parking...I could use that as a nonpayment for a house these days! lol. Seriously, Be mindful of parking in the garage. I dont think they validate parking either.

Hello Google Family. I visited Wills Eye Hospital about two weeks ago, when I obtained a second opinion about the measurements for my left and right eyes. I am about to have scheduled cataract surgery on my right eye. I took public transportation for my 2:00 appointment on a Thursday afternoon. It was a brisk cold day and I was adequately dressed for the part and weather. I enjoy walking and I got in many steps that day for my Map My Run app. Everyone that assisted me with my appointment was friendly and efficient. My doctor, Dr. Robert Lehman is always polite and friendly. My appointment went well. I was in and out of there, about a total of about 15 minutes. I will be back soon to have my surgery. I went back on Tuesday the 15th of March to have my cataract surgery performed. My sister friend, Thelma, picked me up since I could not drive or go on public transportation that day. Wills Eye Hospital requires that a patient be assisted with someone who either drives or takes the bus or taxi. Thelma was able to find a parking spot with no problem. My surgery was on the 7th floor so we parked on the seventh floor level. My appointment was at 5:45 Am. This was because of the check -in and registration procedures. My actual surgery took place about 8 AM. The time went quickly. A nurse had called me the day before to confirm my appointment for the day and to go over the requirements for that day, such as no drinking or eating after midnight and no perfume, no powder, jewelry, etc. The registration procedure was a cinch. Wills Eye personnel asked for my id and insurance card to verify me. When the nurse collected me for my appointment, she asked for my birthdate. That is for them to confirm that I am who I say I am. I then proceeded to the area where they prep you, like give you a dressing gown, take your pulse, blood pressure and insert a needle in your hand. An apparatus was on my left index finger for my pulse and my left arm was wrapped for the blood pressure. They also give you a cap to place over your head. Nathan was the nurse who handled the prep. Nathan was so polite, nice and friendly. I asked a lot of questions and Nathan was kind enough to answer all of them. I am in a large prep area, full of beds with other folks. The actual procedure would be my doctor, two nurses and me in the operating room. Then the anesthesiologist, a very capable sister, Dr. Christa, who was very animated and warm. She came in to see me when I was being prepped for my procedure. I enjoyed seeing someone who looks like me. I hear that there are not a lot of Afro-American anesthesiologists. I asked would she be around and she assured me that she would. Then it was time for my procedure. It was fast. The nurses wheeled me in, my bed had wheels, lol, and then Dr. Lehman appeared. I had seen him earlier because I had questions. I wanted to know, could I work out and could I drive? Dr. Lehman said yes to both and working out is fine, as long as I am not doing anything strenuous. The procedure was so fast and then they were saying I was done. Dr. Lehman removed the cataract out of my right eye and replaced it with an implant. Then a plastic eye shield was taped over my eye so that I would not rub it or get it wet. I only had to wear it that entire day and then the next day after my appointment with Dr. Lehman, just to check to see if I was doing alright. I only wear the shield at night when I am sleeping so I do not rub my eye. I need to do this for five weeks. The cataract surgery was a success and I can see clearly now, the rain has gone by The Carpenters. I was petrified getting my eye operated on, however it was a worthwhile experience and I will return here to have my left eye done whenever that is. My right eye was worse than my left. My right eye vision was cloudy and blurry because of the cataract. Wills Eye Hospital Personnel are the BOMB and I recommend this hospital to everyone. YOU GO WILLS EYE!!!!!

The blonde front desk woman was very rude and dismissive when asked simple questions. Was given half information in regards to picking up my medicine/where to get it from since I’m not from here. Maybe they should work on making sure patients are properly being dealt with rather than rushing thru just to clear the waiting room.
