Important note: please be kind to your veterinarian. They have an extremely tough job (statistically one of the very toughest) and tend to get treated very badly. Why I kept them after the first time I tried them:- They talk to me like a normal person, a peer. They dont talk down to me or slow their speech, but they make sure I got the information and give lots of opportunity to ask questions without making me feel stupid.- They keep me up to date with their gameplan, and run it by me before they do ANYTHING, making me feel like Im in charge and truly part of the team. Why Im extra impressed with them and will recommend them to anyone:- Their prices are reasonable and more than fair. Vets get paid very little, but I also cant afford much. They dont push it when I have to opt for less expensive medications.- Theyre professionals. They clearly do the best they can with what information they have. They clearly show compassion and care about their work and patients.- They go above and beyond. When my cat had an unexpected adverse reaction to one of the medications, Dr. Amanda Jones took the time to go back and review every bit of fine print on the medication, call the pharmaceutical company, and get exact details on the exact research done that got exactly what symptoms listed as side effects to try to pinpoint exactly what was up with my cat. The pharmaceutical company paid for him to get tested for practically everything under the sun - that wouldnt have come through if she hadnt put in that extra effort. The side effects wore off, and my cat is fine now, by the way.Above and beyond. 10/10 Would recommend.
Do not trust them with your animal. My dog passed away because of Dr Amanda. My dog was misdiagnosed and put on meds she didnt need. I called one day and was concerned about my dogs health bc she wasnt acting right and Dr Amanda refused to see her bc my dog was Dr Johns patient. I tried explaining that she was really sick but Dr Amanda still refused to see her and Jen the tech told me that Dr John will call me three days later. He never did. A couple weeks later i tried to take her again but they refused to see her and Ashley the receptionist told me that if my dog was that sick she would be dead by now. My poor baby ended up passing away that day from a tumor that ruptured. She was bleeding eternally. My heart is broken. The whole staff was very cold and heartless.
We just adopted a kitten a week ago, and the staff were all super friendly and helpful. We had a million questions, as we have never had cats. We spent a lot of time over the course of 2 days playing with the 6 kittens they had, trying to make a decision. We never felt rushed, even at closing time. We also observed staff with numerous other customers coming and going, and didnt witness one negative interaction...we will definitely be switching from our old vet office!
As always, I love this place !! Everyone that works there are true blue animal lovers !! They treat your pet as if it were their own. Always happy to help educate and answer questions...and you dont wait long , on time with the appt times. And theyve been super busy too !!! 👍❤🐕🐈⬛
So happy I finally took someone’s advice to bring my cat here. Paid nearly half of what I was paying to a different vet for lab work that was necessary to treat my cat’s hyperthyroidism and wasn’t pressured to pay for anything that was not truly necessary at this time. Felt like my concerns with her course of treatment were actually heard and respected. Dr. Amanda Jones never made me feel dismissed or rushed while we discussed my cat’s medical condition and exam over the phone even though I know times have to be stressful right now for this business. Can’t wait to be able to meet her in person and will continue to see her for our veterinary needs.
We had to switch vets after a few frustrating visits with our former vet. We called Wintergreen a week ago today, spoke with Shelby. She called the next day to tell us she was able to get their records from the former vet, got us scheduled today (less than a week later)!! Dr. Jones called me after meeting our little boy and answered every question I had regarding his care and our older dog’s care (who was not even with Dr. Jones today!!) They were absolutely wonderful. She took her time on the phone with me, putting my mind at ease that we made a really good decision switching our beloved dogs’ care to her and the rest of the team at Wintergreen!!
The staff at Wintergreen were nothing short of amazing. We had an unfortunate situation with our dog and wanted a second opinion. It turned out to be something completely different than we suspected & as our baby rapidly declined, we made the tough decision to put him to rest.Dr. Carrie was so thorough with her exams & tests and was as compassionate as could be. Because of our experience with everyone there, we’ve decided to have our other two dogs become patients there.
My dog, Whitey, recently became terminally ill. It was very unexpected but Dr. Kean and her wonderful technician were so very knowledgeable and compassionate about his health and the choice I was going to have to make. It was one of the hardest decisions to put him to rest but they made it feel very loving and warm in his last minutes. Not just for him but for me as well. I appreciated them so much! I highly recommend them! Thank you!
We took our 5 month old puppy here to get caught up on his shots. As we called ahead a couple days prior to the appointment to set it up, they said he needed one shot. They do their little up-well speech and we took the bite on one as we agreed it would be smart and as they said it’d only be $20 but a total of $76. He was supposed to be there for 2 shots at this point. We pull up, they take him in, and then they call for the payment method. They didn’t even tell us the total, they just asked for a card number. I asked for the total amount and they said $130!! After trying to figure why it was so much, we just payed as they were jumping around some prices. They bring the receipt out.. they charged us a $11 technician fee or whatever.. don’t they make enough off of shots?!?! They charged us an additional shot that we did not talk about. And then they charged us $20 for a nail trimming in which there was no price discussed on the phone! They just had us believe it was a complimentary thing. This place is ridiculous. We’ll give our money to a place that isn’t ripping people off.
Our family recently adopted a dog from a local shelter. We had been without a family dog for many years for various reasons, so a bit nervous and probably over cautious with our new family member (Hooch). Dr. John and all of the staff at Wintergreen Animal Hospital have been wonderful to work with as we get back in the swing of things as dog owners. Very patient (with us mainly), and extremely knowledgeable. We highly recommend them.
Dr. John, and more recently Dr. Amanda have been taking care of my cats & dogs for over 20 years. They and all of their staff are kind, considerate, compassionate and knowledgeable. Yesterday I stopped in for flea meds, no emergency but they have been there for me through some tough times. Its a clean, calm environment and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good vet center.
Wintergreen is an amazing place! I was introduced to Dr. Amanda when I adopted a special needs kitty from orphan angels. the staff is always eager and happy to help. they provide me with the confidence I need to care for my cat. my cat is completely paralyzed and requires special care and thinking outside of the box. any time I call, they always provide me with answers or get me into an appointment right away. the love and passion they have for animals truly shows In everything they do. my kitty violet and I are so happy to have meet such a wonderful team of compassionate people to provide alternative care for a good quality of life. because of them, I met my kitty and am forever grateful.
We were traveling on vacation and my dog injured his eye. I was too worried to let it go until we got home, so I called around looking for a vet the morning after it happened. After calling other places that wouldnt help, I tried here and they were SO kind and compassionate. Doctor Carrie saw my dog right away! Thankfully he was okay :) She gave him the stuff he needed to get better quick and we were able to have fun on our vacation!
Dr. Lutz is SPECTACULAR! The entire staff is top notch! Thank you Doug for being so comforting! Our 7 month old puppy was sick, I called and they saw us the same day! I had never been here before. We are now transferring all of our records to Wintergreen!!! Absolutely the BEST!
We can not thank the entire staff at Wintergreen Animal Hospital enough! Our dog Lily had an infection and they got her in within an hour. Lilys normal vet couldn’t see her until 4 days for their reasons. KUDOS TO YOUR TEAM! I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone. Thanks agian
Our beloved malti-poo Piper needed an emergency visit with ultimately a heartbreaking decision to be made to end her suffering. Dr Kean & the staff gave us the most compassionate truths about what was best for our Piper. I am very grateful for the care to Piper in her final times & towards myself accepting the heartbreaking outcome. Everything was reasonable regarding cost & exceptional regarding care. I cant recommend them enough. ❤️
My entire experience with wintergreen animal hospital was outstanding. Very attentative, professional and knowledgable vets and techs who really treated me like family. We ended up having to put my animal down in the end but through the whole process the staff was nothing short of amazing to me and my pet. Highly reccommend if your looking for knowledgable professionals to help your pets needs.
Outstanding staff and service. Everyone there goes above and beyond with the care that they provide. I would never go anywhere else.Update- we had to put our amazing mazie down yesterday. Dr. Carrie was truly incredible with it along with the staff. Even with everything going on she was able to create a relaxing atmosphere. Thank you very much for your words and help easing Mazies pain!!
I found an infection growing in the lower part of my kitten so I called them as soon as they opened, and they had me come in within the hour. After a few tests and an examination, they told me she needed surgery and the best surgery would be to get her fixed. They scheduled the surgery also within an hour. They called me when the surgery was complete and gave me an update on how she was doing. I was super pleased! So within only a few hours, they made time to make sure my kitten got the best vet care possible. Highly recommend this office
This place is very unorganized. I had received a bill for a fecal test for months (asked to pay it every time) before I just told them to charge me!! We needed to have a surgical procedure and it was a big cluster!! I would like to speak to the surgeon prior...common sense, right?? After being told he doesnt have time...I cancelled.
My husband and I take all 15 of or cats to Wintergreen. We met them through our work at Orphan Angels. The clerical staff are efficient and organized. The clinical staff are experienced, warm, and are personally invested in the health of each patient. These people will laugh with you and cry with you. Outstanding practice. And we recommend Wintergreen each and every time the opportunity presents itself.
My dog had an eye injury while my wife and I were vacationing in Erie. My wife called Wintergreen to see if they could help us and they had a spot they fit us in. They checked my dogs eye and gave us some medicine for it. The staff and doctor were very friendly and welcoming.
Very friendly, reasonable prices not cheap but reasonable I will be definitely coming back here I had to help a friend put a cat down cause he had cancer in the mouth, when I thought about the whole experience was amazing they gave you the amount of time you needed they let you be there with your animal whenever theyre going to sleep forever and they have a little light up sign outside on the desk that says a family member saying goodbye to a pet can you please talk quietly it was quiet in there the whole time it made it feel like it was just us which was a great experience for the circumstances that we were in
Want to thank all the employees working yesterday 6/21. My husband took our beared dragon sparky in gasping for air they were amazing in everything they tried to do for him in the end sparky earned his dragon wings but they were amazing. Thank you again for everything.

Michelle is awesome she answered all my questions on the phone she was patient with me and she made me feel like she really wanted me to just come in and see what she was talking about and it did not disappoint they showed me around the facility and made me feel comfortable about where LoRider would be living for a week they not only took care of our beloved LoRider they gave him a bath they clipped his nails and he was still happy when I went to visit him and he was still happy when we picked him up... 2018-02-02Always the best care to cats and dogs. Kind and loving to the animals and owners. We have been with them thru several pets. Smart and up to date on care. Our cats have been 16, 18 and 20 years old under their guidance. Our dog was 16. We have been together for 30 years now, wow, and I wouldnt go anywhere else.

2020-07-03As a lifelong pet owner I have learned to be discerning with where I choose to get my four-legged friends their necessary care. When my 8 week-old Rottweiler pup stopped eating and became rapidly and severely dehydrated I called all the vet shops in the area but due to the COVID crisis they were all booked up for a few days, days that my pup did not have. Wintergreen immediately heard what was going on and had my pup in within the half-hour and by the end of the day we had a reasonable grasp on the rare situation that she was in. Dr. Jones (their chief of staff) is by far the most caring vet I have ever encountered and went above and beyond to find the resources we needed at vet hospitals in nearby major cities. Destiny and the rest of their support staff have also been more helpful than i could imagine and we owe the life of our pup to them!Bring your furry friend here if you dont want to endure the constant stream of life-insurance or healthplan pitches that all the vets offices are turning into or if you want people who actually put the pet first.

2021-09-17I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE!!!! My pets first visit or two went ok, you can tell they just want your money and arent concerned about your pet. My pet was going in to have a tooth pulled. I told their office 3 TIMES the medications that my dog is on. My dog is 12 years old and I take better care of her than I do myself. Normally she had alot of seperation anxiety so she takes Trazadone as needed and she has her whole life. I called their office 4 days before the scheduled surgery to ask if I should give her a pill or two to help keep her calm before and after the surgery. They call me back the day before her surgery, 2 days later and at 4:45pm to ask if she has ever taken gabapentin for anxiety. She has been on gabapentin for the past 4 years due to arthritis soooo what is that going to do for anxiety if shes been taking it for years?? They do not familiarize themselves with a pet and that pets history ahead of time. You seriously asked me about a medication that she has been on for years and I have told you that at least 4 times. I really REALLY didnt feel good at all about her having surgery here but it needed done because it was affecting her daily life. Also, another time she needed dropped off for bloodwork and they had her all day and I could tell they didnt even take her outside once when she was there for 8 hours. I know my dog, ive had her 12 years. Every time they would call it was a different person on the phone. I felt like I constantly would just repeat myself over and over then they would call with a question when I had told the girl that called before that the answer. I work in the medical field, I treat people the way I want to be treated. I will pay whatever I need to in order to get the care my dog deserves and needs. I will not tolerate disrespect towards myself or my animal when I do not act like that towards others. Dr Amanda was soooo rude and unprofessional, Im glad she left. But it would have been great to know she was leaving BEFORE SHE LEFT. Isnt that the professional thing to do?! Please save yourself the headache and dont bother going to this veterinarian office. Rude rude RUDE!!! Unprofessional and they just need to pay attention to what they are doing!!

2021-06-28Amazing! I went to a different vet on east 38th who tried to put my cat to sleep without our permission. I called Wintergreen crying and they immediately took him and gave him meds to reverse the effects from the other vet. They even went in to the office on their own time to check on my cat over night. I love, love, love the staff! They are all so kind, all 3 of my animals go here.

2021-01-29I take both of my new dogs here and I believe they truly care about your animals as if they were thier own. I had multiple questions after my dog was spayed. They took the time over the weekend/closed hours to address my concerns without a second of hesitation. The last local vet hospital I took my older, now passed, dog to wasnt personable. He was terrified to go in and I felt like I was shuffled in and out in a hurry. Wintergreen makes you feel welcome and always happy to see your furry loved ones. Both of my dogs are always happy going in and coming out of the vet!

2021-05-21Very nice place to take your pet. We drive about an hour to bring our pets here. The inside is super homey and comfortable, the animals are allowed on the seats with you, theres complimentary snacks and drinks. The people here are super accommodating and will do their best to squeeze you in even on a busy day.
