Yoccos The Hot Dog King in other cities:
Yoccos Will never win any Michelin stars, but they are an institution in Allentown and I do everything in my power to stop by there whenever Im in the area. It is simple comfort hot dogs, hamburgers, pierogies and foods of that nature, all served by attentive and nice employees. You dont go there for the decor, you go there for some of the tastiest food ever!
Home of the $14.00 meal deal. 1 six inch cheese steak that tastes like their hot dogs, 3 pierogies and a 32 oz cup they couldnt even bother to fill. I have never wanted to throw a tray of food before.I spent 12 bucks on a 10 inch chicken cheese steak WITH delicious fries at Milk Boy on South Street IN PHILADELPHIA. That was worth every penny. Overpriced is an understatement.I talked my friends into stopping. Never again.
08212022 6:56 PM Stopped in to get a quick burger. The friendly young lady waited on me and got my burger and water, and the young lady said something to her friend like, I feellike cleaning something, Im going to clean all this down here under the register I almost fell over😂 I am 63 years old and never heard anybody in fast food say something like that. I told her I had a store in the Lehigh Valley mall 40 years ago and I had a sign that said, when there is time to lean there is time to clean. (E Werely 10 1974 Whitehall Mall ) She said, we say that here too. I almost fell over again. Her parents did a good job, and they have great, let me repeat that, great management at this and all the other stores. If all of her age group had the same work ethic the United States would be in good shape. We are going through a demographic shift thats going to change our economy. She will be a leader 10 years from now, I guarantee it!🇺🇸2019 This place is great. The staff is friendly, and work hard. Every time I go in here, it brings back memories of a half a century ago, (Big black Seaburg speakers, playing Diana Ross and the Supremes) at the liberty Street store.A lot of good times with family and friends.Keep it up!!!I had an uncle who lived in Puerto Rico, and when I picked him up from Newark airport, this is the first place we always headed.
Very disappointed and if I hadn’t changed and got settled at home I would have taken the food back. I think they need to start writing down the customer’s order instead of going by memory because I ordered a steak with everything except hot peppers and got steak and pickles only no sauce no onions it tasted horrible no flavor at all. Also ordered two burgers for my husband with everything and got bland tasting burgers with nothing on it like no flavor at all just plain void of any flavor not even salt. Also had to wait long for the cook to make it meanwhile my fries and perogies sat cooling in the bag waiting for the steak and burgers to finish. If you go there check your order is prepared correctly before you leave or you may be in for a surprise.
If youre a local, you know Yoccos well. Its one of The Lehigh Valleys greatest features. Growing up in Allentown, I remember fondly the lunch memories my father and I shared here. With the smell of fried pierogies and the chinwag of kind-hearted city folk, the Yoccos experience remains just as iconic as it was in the early 2000s.
Today, 4/22/21, I visited for lunch for my family since we haven’t been here in a while. Yocco’s West has always been our favorite spot for hot dogs. I ordered 4 hot dogs, 2 with ketchup, and 2 with cheese... there was the most minuscule amount of cheese or ketchup I’ve ever seen, and none of our hot dogs were cooked. I couldn’t even eat half of my hot dog, and my boyfriend couldn’t eat his second. The hot dogs were chewy, and undercooked for being a place that promotes a well done hot dog. The service was horrible, minus the beautiful hearted cashier (who stated has a daughter that turns one soon). I ordered two drinks and corrected myself when I ordered the wrong one before she started pouring, and the woman still gave me the wrong drink. I nicely said “I’m so sorry I thought you heard the cashier, I said I needed a sprite instead!” And the petite girl with brown hair gave me a literal death stare while she was repouring it. Their sign screams amazing customer service, but today I didn’t receive that. I’ve worked in customer service since I was 16 years old, and this is not how you greet your customers. I usually love this spot, but we will never be back after today. What a WASTE of $21.
Its Yoccos !A local institution , the staff is fast paced and concise .The dogs , well you either love or you dont , its a thing here in the valley , but you must note that they do brand themselves as The Hotdog King , but their cheese steaks and sausage sandwiches are very good too ! They got that Love burger , and their fries are at the top of the list , ( available by the bucket even !)They have delivery boxes available to ship anywhere in the world .I could go on , but you should just go and decide for yourself .
UPDATE: I forgot about my earlier visit and went back today, and the same guy had his nose sticking out of his mask again. Today he was making the perogies and fries, breathing all over them. He must be the manager or the boss or an owner because the other employees (who wear their masks properly) must be afraid to tell him to pull his mask up.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Yoccos hot dogs are a real treat for us, but the guy making the hot dogs had is NOSE sticking OUT of his MASK. Unfortunately, I wont be able to go back to this Yoccos location until I have a CoVid vaccine. (The other, younger, people working there had the sense to wear their masks properly, good for them.)
This place is the king for a reason. 95 years of incredible hot dogs cant be wrong!! I am currently on vacation and i drove 2 states or of my way just to get them. We live in Michigan so we arent able to get these unless we order the picnic pack mailed to us. Yoccos is a tradition in my family and its a hot dog thats not only near and dear to our hearts but to our stomachs as well! Long live the king!!
Yoccos is hot dogs of the valley if you never had one I dont understand why you are reading this! I guarantee you will love it! They have very hard workers and great food! The place is older but thats how life works ! Its not a 5 star restaurant but when you tell someone you went to yoccos you will instantly feel cool.
Listen I grew up on this place, but last few times Ive eaten here have been horrendous. You have to retrain those new guys running the grill. Please. Well done dogs are half cooked mush. Fresh cooked burgers are still red inside. This is not the yocco way, I promise. Hope this review helps get back on track but I doubt it.
Dont believe the hype. I was disappointed with the taste & quality of the meat itself. As for the secret sauce, Im thankful its one of a kind. I prefer the dogs from Potts. Lets set the record straight. Im not a Potts employee nor am I a family member. This is a real & honest review.
Vintage Allentown, PA, eatery. Famous for their hot dogs, but the signature meat sauce makes their burgers and cheesesteaks just as memorable. Have been enjoying Yoccos food for five decades; never lost my enthusiasm for it. My wife and I try to make sure we hit Yoccos whenever were in town.
The chili aka chili sauce isnt chili. Its like a chili flavored substance. Not chili not quite a sauce not quite a powder its something but it isnt chili and the hotdogs seemed old or they way they were cooked made it rubbery. Have ur kid make you one at home in the microwave, itll taste the same, if not better.
Yaccos dog is what it is. Well done hotdog on a bun. Very thin chilli sauce. Mustard and onion. I love it, go evertime. But its not for everybody. A bit of an assembly line to order, pay, pickup, so pay attention to how people do it so you dont get stressed out. Kind of like ordering steaks in philly at pats or genos. Follow the rules and you will be fine.
I never really like hot dogs until I ate yoccos probably one of the only places I will buy a cooked hot dog from can someone please correct the hours online Ive been there two separate times when they said they were open and I got there and they were closed an hour before
This one man perhaps in his 20s I believe to be the assistant manager.was very unprofessional and rude to a young lady/employee. He threw boxes against the wall just cuz she got the wrong boxes. Also I witnessed him scolding her very harshly in front of the customers.I felt uncomfortable. Also felt bad for her. Hope she quited. I will never eat here again.
I come here once in a while but let me tell you, that young lady in the red hat doesn’t play no games! Another woman was so rude to her giving her attitude i don’t know how she was so calm, then the lady came back and said that she forgot to put something in her bag and that young lady put her foot down and said “No, I remember putting that in ur bag, try again” then turned off. THEY NEED MORE PEOPLE LIKE HER! usually the other employees wouldn’t question it and give a person something for free just because a customer complained. But I like her! Overall the staff is always very friendly!
Yoccos Hot Dog are an Allentown Treasure that is one of the few treasures that is still around since 1922. My favorite Yoccos is on Hamilton st. Located at 2128. The hot dogs are grilled on a flat iron grill and put in a soft steamed roll then dressed with a little mustard, onions and a secret recipe of just the right amount of sauce. They are truly in their own class !!! No other like them. You can buy Yocco doggie packs that are packed to travel with all the fixings 12 in a box. We have done it many times and they do well traveling. If you have never tried any of of them do yourself a favor and indulge!!
The hot dog buns were very doughy and chewy alot of mustard I did not ask for the fries were very hard & not enough chili sauce I was very disappointed in the food quality!!! The workers at the front were very rude they did not greet me as I approached the counter. Terrible ciscusto service!!

2022-08-10For reasonable price, fast and friendly service, and delicious food, this is a clear five star. Now, if you are expecting linen tablecloths and recipes with French names as your definition of five star, you will want to pass. This is hot dogs and diner food served on a tray, but, man, it was delicious. We stopped and got two dogs with everything (chili sauce, mustard, and chopped onions in a dream of a steamed bun), a side of pierogis, and chocolate milk, and we left happy and full. Well, my wife may have gone back for another side of pierogis, and THEN we were full. This review is not for anyone in Allentown because you already know how good Yoccos is, but, if you havent been and are coming through the area, make a plan to stop. Plenty of parking and very accessible, with options for speci dietary needs available. From the vibe to the staff to most importantly the delicious food, Id put this with the fanciest of Michelin star restaurants in true satisfaction any day.

2022-03-23Tuesday March 22nd 2022Came here for the first time for dinner. The building & ambiance hasnt been updated for at least 15 years lol.Nowhere on their website or reviews does it say anything about being Celiac disease friendly but they are! I ordered a chicken breast with everything, minus bun. They made sure to change gloves and make it safe for me to eat there. The guy behind the counter was double checking everyones orders & overall was just being a true boss - he ran that company like a well oiled machine & was training his employees well too.The food was good. I wouldnt say it was amazing BUT for the wonderful customer service, and the affordable pricing, this place is definitely a 5 star.

2022-04-25No trip to the Lehigh Valley is complete without paying a visit to Yocco’s. The food is consistently good and they have the best hot and crispy pierogies ever!

2021-08-30The food is SO GOOD!! I got 2 large fries, 1 large perogies, and 1 plain hot dog. 🔥 I hope this doesnt turn into an addiction. The fries and the outside of the perogies are crunchy and salty. This is better than McDonalds. It seems older people enjoy this place a lot from what Ive seen.

2022-05-03There is a reason they have been around so long. Stopped in for a quick bite. The hot dogs were great lots of flavor. The chili sauce matches up perfect. Didnt get a chance to try any of the rest of the menu this time but I will definitely be back. Friendly service and a great atmosphere.

2022-06-19Everything about our experience at this place was bad. We could barely hear them through the muffled drive-thru speakers, the employee taking our order had an attitude, they got our order wrong, were rude to us at the window, and the food itself was terrible.- Our hotdog was smashed and the bun was burnt- not toasted.- The “chili sauce” was somehow more of a moist, chunky powder.- Our hamburger looked appetizing but had zero taste- most bland burger I’ve ever had.- The fries were OK in that they were cooked well/crispy, but they had no salt on them.- The grilled chicken strips, which we only got because they were out of the breaded ones, were the best thing we got. They didnt accept credit/debt cards either. And since we didn’t have time to go back and ask for a refund, coming here was the equivalent to flushing our cash down the toilet. For a company who’s slogan is “the hotdog king” we expected much, MUCH better.

2022-07-19Get an order of fries and another of pierogis to go with fully dressed hot dogs (mustard, onions and chili sauce). This is a classic joint, enjoy the ambiance.
